Several years ago we purchased 8 windows and 3 patio doors for our cottage in Temagami. Recently we purchased 2 steel doors and a window. Both times the service was excellent, we received a superior product and good prices.
For our last purchase we didn’t consider looking elsewhere.
Very pleased with pleasant, informed employees. From the moment I entered showroom, Heather greeted me with kindness, showed me available products, answered all my questions, provided me with brochures to review at home and set up an appointment for a sales rep to come to my home. Jim was friendly and accommodating. He reviewed my choices, answered additional questions and promptly sent quote with a follow up call to ensure I had received information. Scott came to do final measurements. He was also friendly and efficient. Daisy, from scheduling department kindly provided reminder calls for appointments and updated me promptly of any delays. Interactions to date have been exceptional!
Right from the beginning to the end process we could not be happier with Heritage Renovations. We had Jay to our house to explain how the process works & answered all our questions making us feel totally comfortable & gave us an honest time line when our new front door would be installed. The install crew came & did a fantastic job & clean up was spotless! We are so excited to get our new windows next week which were an awesome price!!
Thank you Heritage Renovations
Christine
Heritage Renovations are trusted pros. I recently had four new North Star windows installed in my home. I was very impressed with Marco and Shannon who helped me from their head office and the installers who were just great. The install team was very professional. I had other quotes from stores around London and Heritage Renovations was by far the best price. I was so impressed with their service and instal process, I am having them back to replace four more windows in my home this summer.
BEWARE THIS COMPANY. They might get good reviews but I will tell you right now that if you have a bad installation, Heritage will not own up to it. Our problems started with the installation of a front door which was in October, 2021. Looked great except we noticed shortly after that the door wouldn't open all the way - the sweep rubbed against our hardwood floors - which are our original floors, installed when the house was built. I addressed this with them and they came out to look at it. The contractor they sent took one look at the problem and told me the sweep is too low and needed to be raised. He did that, but then when the weather got cold, there was a draft. When I called them about this, they told me that was my fault because I had insisted on having them raise the sweep, even though they had - supposedly - cautioned me against doing that. Ummm, what?? What are you talking about?? Then they went on to say that my "new flooring" was the problem, and I should call that contractor and get him to fix it. Again… these are ORIGINAL floors (photos attached to prove). Complaints on other websites have resulted in them telling further falsehoods, including the most recent - that I actually ADMITTED that I had had work done on my floors. Unbelievable. I have consulted a well-respected contractor here in London who told me the door was obviously put in too low and the proper measurements and assessments were not done up front. My floor might slant a little but this was a previously existing issue that Heritage did not account for. My old door opened just fine with no draft, after all. Measurements and assessments were obviously not done properly up front and this door was put in too low and has never worked properly. At this point, the sweep at the bottom of the door has been taken off and put back on too many times (at their recommendation, always!) and is now warped. Because they say that is somehow my fault, they won't replace it. They imply that I bullied their contractors into doing what they recommended against - which plain and simple, never happened. The fixes were always the recommendations of the contractors, never something I even suggested, let alone insisted on. These people have ZERO integrity. One photo is current, taken today. The other photo is from the 2009 listing when we purchased the house. As you can see, the flooring is identical. No changes have been made.
UPDATE since their rebuttal: Heritage may want to think that this is a new floor, or a re-done floor that I had completed somehow in between their measurements and their installation of the door (really??) but it is not true, as the photos prove. This is the same floor the people had who lived in the house previously had. Exactly. But they are sticking to that falsehood because to admit otherwise would be to admit that they did a bad assessment & incorrect measurement.
The installation of the customers door was proper and true from day one. After installation the customer indicated that the rubber sweep at the base of the door slab was rubbing along their floor when the door was fully opened, so we returned to address those concerns at no charge. At that visit it was determined and explained to the customer that when they had your new flooring installed (customer admitted they had work done) their floor was not leveled, and that further back from the door the flooring was actually higher up than near the door by a significant and uncommon amount. This was not a problem with the door or door installation, but with their flooring and improper installation thereof.
Regardless, we still did not charge the customer for a service attendance, and advised if they wanted higher clearance, the flooring should be fixed by the contractor or person who installed it. We installed our product properly, not out of level and out of alignment to accommodate something in the home that is not installed correctly (the customers flooring). We advised the customer that if they wanted the door adjusted, they would only be able to raise the sweep which was not best for the door as that is what creates the seal to the sill. The customer requested we raise the sweep regardless of this warning, to which we complied and did so at their request. We made it clear this was not recommended, but we ultimately respected the customer s request and did as they demanded.
The customer then called in reported a draft under the door, as the sweep was raised, and less firm contact was being made from the sweep to the sill (this was explained to the customer when they told us to raise it). We again came out at no charge to adjust the sweep again to the customers liking. The sweep now shows signs of some warping due to it being up too high and not in the proper position. We explained to the customers that this is not covered under manufacturer warranty as it is a wearable part, and because they had requested it to be improperly installed which caused unnecessary damage. As such we would have to buy a new replacement sweep from the manufacturer if the customer desired one, and that it would be a chargeable service for us to order the new sweep and install it for the customer.
We did as the customer requested and demanded, advising them that it was not the best and not the proper solution, as well as the impacts and consequences of their decision. The customer is now experiencing those impacts and consequences of their decision, and while understandably upset, it is completely improper for them to accuse or blame us. We clearly explained everything to the customer from the beginning, and from each attendance, ahead of the customer making and demanding action that cause this to occur. I apologize that the customer is left unsatisfied with the result, and that we were unable to get them a new sweep installed for free after the existing one is no longer in perfect condition after the improper adjustments the customer demanded.
Our staff has worked with the customer thru every step of the process and communicated with you at great lengths to be clear and transparent. We wish you the best in your home renovations.
Over the passed year or so we have had Heritage replace most of our windows and doors. It was during the pandemic and of course a major worry at letting folks in our house. However the installers were so thoughtful and considerate and the installations went smoothly. Last winter we were house bound and the new windows and doors made a huge difference in the temperature of the house. We are currently awaiting the arrival of one more door. Thank you Haritage!
