When it was time for a new deck I decided to invest fully in a no-maintenance high quality rebuild; I didn't want to ever scrape or stain again! Since this would be far more expensive than simply replacing the original wood it was important to find a top notch contractor. When I met Geoff Aucoin I informed him that while I was willing to pay for good work my standards could be extremely high. He promised not to disappoint and he did not.

I had an idea of what I wanted but was unsure of my options. Geoff brought me samples and helped me to choose from the many material options available.

Construction started earlier than promised; Fred and Art are true professionals with extremely high standards and a professional work ethic. My daily questions and concerns were answered clearly and patiently; the project proceeded as promised and finished on time and on budget. The work area was always left neat and clean. There were a few minor issues with the railings but they were rectified without hesitation.

The results are outstanding and I am 100% satisfied. Since the deck faces the street appearance is important; neighbours continually stop to admire it.

Hickory Dickory Decks was amazing! From consultation to completion we had constant and easy communication as well as confidence that they were doing exactly as we asked. At the beginning we were unsure of how we wanted our deck layed out but they helped us through that process step by step. I would recomend Hickory Dickory Decks to my friends and family!

Tom came over and looked at our situation. It did not take him long to design a deck that both my wife and I liked.

We agreed on the price, and construction started exactly on the date it was supposed to start.

Back in 2014, I submitted a video into the Hickory Dickory Decks Dream Deck contest. My family and I made a video showcasing the terrible condition of the deck we had, which was literally falling apart. Luckily, we rallied enough votes from family, friends and the public to end in first place. I can't even describe my excitement when I was dubbed the official winner. All I can say is, I was over the moon.

Unfortunately, there were some hiccups between the city and the company. Every time they tried to begin building, someone would shut them down. Any other company would have given up on me, but Hickory Dickory Decks didn't. For 2 years, they fought to fulfill my dream and finally got the approval. They went above and beyond with kindness.

The fun part is definitely showing off the beauty of my much bigger deck. I never actually realized how small the old deck was until I got to drive around this beauty. I can turn the corner of the ramp without getting caught, the gate ensures no more nightmares of driving down the stairs and way more room for next years BBQ! I can't wait to decorate next spring.

I hope Hickory Dickory Decks knows how much my family and I really appreciate everything they've done for us. The owners and builders were all super kind and caring. Never in a million years did I expect to have a deck this gorgeous and SAFE! A huge thank-you to everyone involved in making this happen, including those who voted for us. HDD just completed a roughly 300sq ft deck on our home. Tom took the time to go over the quote thoroughly - make sure to get a printed copy of the contract once all the details are hammered out to avoid confusion later on once all the changes have been agreed upon. Also ensure you review the engineering drawings, as they can differ from the concept drawings slightly.

Jer and Chris were a fantastic crew - they took the time to explain everything and always reached out with any questions they had. They built the deck as if it was their own, and the finished product is testament to that.

These guys certainly are not the cheapest guys around, but you certainly get what you pay for. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Invited H.D.D. to advise me on needed deck repair. They had built my original deck 25 years ago, Yup a full 25 years and still standing. Tom sent a crew to take pics and evaluate what was needed. I told them I needed to work within a budget and they were extremely helpful in advising me what we might be able to salvage from the old deck. (turns out we salvaged quite a bit). The work was done in about 5 full days. My "NEW" deck looks fabulous and will probably last the rest of my life. It was completed on time, on budget and with great efficiency. After having this company build my beautiful deck over a decade ago, I instantly returned to them over ten years later when I saw that some wooden boards were starting to age badly. They did a magnificent job then, and I had full faith they would be the company I would want to work with again.

Honesty: From the beginning I shared my wishes about what I would like to see in the repaired final product. Tom was forthcoming in sharing his knowledge and expertise to ensure I ended up with what I was seeking. He took the time to tell me about the products available, and my options, as he learned more about my wishes. This allowed me to make an informed decision. He was honest in what the results would be to each of the possible scenarios. I appreciated knowing this so I could be assured that what I wanted would be what was provided.

Evidence: Jeremy and Chris were diligent in following the plan that was set out and they went above and beyond to also correct things I had not noticed. When Mason and Pierce came to clean the deck, they were also diligent in the care and thoroughness they demonstrated, and the cleaning was superb. All employees were personable, hard-working, and held the same high expectations I have.

Accountability: All promised timelines were met. Jeremy and Chris were always on time (if not early) and they certainly put in full days of work. They problem-solved as issues arose and always checked in with me to ensure I was pleased with their ideas. I loved the ideas they shared. For the cleaning part, Mason and Pierce called to let me know they were on their way, and they too were early to arrive at our home. They certainly put in a full day of work, even with the changing weather throughout the day.

Respect: Looking back I could have just told Hickory Dickory Deck to go ahead and fix what needed to be fixed, and all would have been great. All interactions were respectful, professional but also human, as their sense of humour was also welcomed and kept me worry-free. Nice, talented, skillful, respectful guys.

Trust: The price was quoted, agreed to and the contract was drawn up. As I spent more time looking more deeply at my deck as their work progressed, new possibilities popped into my mind. While Jeremy was always honest with what could be done, I could also trust him to let me know what extra costs would be incurred if my revised plans were implemented. There were no surprises! I appreciated the flexibility in making the additions to our original plans. The same can be said for Mason and Pierce. As the cleaning uncovered what shape some boards really were in, they were helpful in ensuring that I was aware, and willingly took pictures so that my message could be shared back with Tom, with my requests for a few more changes.

H.E.A.R.T.: I will be spending many, many hours now entertaining and enjoying my refurbished deck. I will be able to continue to love my wooden deck, thanks to this accommodating, stellar company and their amazing employees (Tom, Jeremy, Chris, Mason and Pierce). I am also grateful that my wishes were supported and that I wasn’t pressured into tearing down a fading deck to create a brand new more expensive one, made from the composite materials that I personally didn’t want. Tom had written on our contract that the final payment would be when there was customer satisfaction. I remember thinking that some people are never satisfied so how could a company honour this? Wouldn’t that be a risky thing to promise? For Hickory Dickory Decks, it wasn’t risky at all! Even I, the super picky one, was more than satisfied! My wooden deck was refurbished with H.E.A.R.T…and care for the customer’s happiness. All I can say is “WOW!”…and thanks SO MUCH!

Brad was with us every step of the way, from deciding what exactly we needed from our deck and what it would be used for, to materials and through construction. The design was tailored to our needs, rather than just a random structure in the space we had available. The drawings were easy to read, professional and adjustments were made as needed.
