We reside in Brampton and chose Home Mntn Club (a.k.a. HM Club) both operate fm the same Brampton address. The criteria was a local based Co. so delays would be minimal; quotes were on par; BIG MISTAKE !! We contracted for a 3-4 day work for demolition/reconstruction of a 3-pc w/room in end-Aug 2010. The contract signed, deposits paid, material ordered. The only time Mr Gaunett B. was on time was before work started !.
Day 1 Thurs: I took a day off; Mr G. came at 8.30am with 3 young gents to demolish the w/room; by 3.00 pm they left leaving the rubble (balance day wasted).
Day 2 : My wife took a day off; Mr G. promised to come at 8am but came after 11am; no explanation or courtesy; when confronted he said "things had to be planned....." we thought were professionals and with 3 prior visits, knew what was reqd on a simple contract ! One person was around and at 6pm on my return fm office, 1 sheet of greenboard was in place ! Mr G. came in later and the 2 worked till abt midnight (illegal/disturbance) completing some plumbing and drywalls.
Day 3 : Group of abt 10 persons at our frontage at 8.30am (weekend -noise/music); Mr G. came and sent some to other sites; 2 staff worked till abt 10.30pm (illegal/disturbance). work delayed in the a.m. as they waited 2 drywall sheets to be delivered and again in the p.m. for a tile saw and Mr G. to deliver a shower draincover ! (time mngt ?)
Day 4 Sun: one staff came at 6am followed by another at 8.30am; both worked till 9.30pm, completing most plastering, primer, etc ! Mr G. was to come by to do the plumbing but was held up ? no contact or access by cell phone. Staff promised that work would be completed by day 5 - pm. Asked them to come after 5pm when my wife returned fm work.
Day 5 : 2 staff came at 5.30pm; did some more finishing etc; Mr G. came to do the electrical and plumbing; some delay as they had no tube cutter (we supplied). All left at 9pm promising work would be complete next day.
Day 6 : Mr Sukhi and 1 staff come at 6pm as I was calling Mr G; did some work , buy no sign of Mr G. who was to complete the plumbing and electrical. Mr Sukhi offers to pay me 1 days vacation compensation, so they can work and complete the job. I request that they just complete the job on our return fm work each evening. As a matter of interest they did not bring along an edging paintbrush, so they awaited a staff to bring a credit card, so they could drive to Rona to buy same ! both left at 8.30pm, promising completion next day.
Day 7 Wed: Mr S. and Mr G. came at 6.30pm and completed most work but had to run out to rent a table saw. left at some 9pm; (They still had to secure the shower walls to the drywalls, grout the area, pressure check plumbing, fix & paint w/room door, cut the A/c vent and spackle / paint the bulkhead).
Ofcourse there was minor leaks and Mr G. was uncontactable; emails were exchanged but appts were missed. Work/payment (all by chq) was completed mid-Sept 2010.
Sept-Oct 2011 - We had water seepage fm the shower wall base and one of the walls was coming loose; we called Mr G. who favored an appt 10 days later; as that was Election day + a long w/end we agreed after the w/end; he came on time, saw that we had preventive recaulked (as we did not expect a response or wanted to face delays) and promised to reschedule an appt; an appt was fixed 2 weekends later, HMC confirmed by email, but cancelled a day prior to due date by email (no courtesy call !) When pulled up for tardiness, as we had cancelled our schedules to accomodate HMC, Mr G. emailed back that the warranty was void and will not be honored due to the work I did. Seemed fm experience HMC are not ethical and should be pulled up; Mr G.has seen our baseboards are cracked due to the water and heat and should be replaced; our showerbase has a unreasonable clearance.
We don't even want HMC to offer a warranty response, but want HandyCanadian and public to be informed of these unprofessionals !!
Prior to our response statement, we would like to advise the reader that this complaint was filed within the same dates as the other two complaints on our profile. (August 2010 - November 2010). At that time, HM Club Canada Incorporated misjudged the character and work ethics of hired employees and subcontractors. HM Club Canada Incorporated has taken full responsibility for the negative workmanship, and have, since then, hired capable contractors, who are very knowledgeable in thier fields- and it is reflected in their workmanship from December 2010 to the present date.
Please do not hesitate to contact us by phone (905-970-8229), email, or visiting our office location (#1- 11 Edvac Drive, Brampton, ON L6S 5W5) to view our references, or to schedule an in-home visit of previous and current projects.

FYI: This review was stemmed by our refusal to warranty Mr. Cooper's project. Reasons for this refusal are:
a) Only workmaship completed by HM Club Canada Incorporated employees or subcontractors are covered by our Insurance company
b) Home owner workmanship/ other hired source WILL NOT be covered by our insurance, as it is unknown if the correct procedure(s) were taken when attempting to repair- this may ultimately result in worse damage than to begin with.
Mr Cooper admitted to knowledge of the issue from April 2011, but did not contact HM Club Canada Incorporated until September 2011. We encourage all clients to contact us as soon as possible if a defect is noticed with our workmanship.
We do not request any payments from clients unless they are satisfied with project progress/ completion. Mr. Cooper issued final payment in September 2010.
Mr. Cooper contacted us in September 2011 regarding a repair. Warranty inspection occurs within two- three weeks of call, unless an emergency. An appointment was scheduled on Thursday September 16 2011, ten days after call was made. Mr. Cooper cancelled and rescheduled a more convenient date on Tuesday September 20, 2011.
During the inspection, Mr. Cooper admitted to the serviceman that he had himself serviced the shower. Repair attempted by client and/or a different company to our workmanship will not be covered by our insurance company.
A letter was sent to Mr. Cooper indicating this policy, however also stating our intent to honour the said repair. Upon receiving the letter, Mr. Cooper replied by email expressing anger at the notification, and stating that he noticed the issue in April 2011.
Company contact should not have had been in September 2011, but rather when the problem initially arised in April 2011. We encourage all clients to contact us at the earliest possible date of a misdemeanor with our workmanship, so that we may be able to inspect and repair the problem prior to becoming extensive.
By admittedly holding back five months, Mr. Cooper may have prolonged the damage to its present state, which could have been resolved at initial sighting.
Because the client informed us (in writing) that the damage was over five months old, and that there was an attempt to repair (also in writing), rather than calling in the warranty, HM Club Canada Incorporated s managerial team has collectively made the decision that we will not over rule our insurance company to cover the unsuccessful repair made by the client. Particularly with a repair that has been delayed for five months.
However, moving forward, Home Maintenance Club Canada Incorporated will inform potential clients of our Full Two Year Warranty Policy, including a detailed Term Outline, so that this issue will not arise again.
We hope Mr. Cooper is able to get past our decision, and we do wish him all the best moving forward.
Again, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone (905-970-8229), email, or visiting our office location (#1- 11 Edvac Drive, Brampton, ON L6S 5W5) to view our references, or to schedule an in-home visit of previous and current projects.
Since I only have 4000 characters to tell my story (yeah I know it sounds like a lot, but when you have been through what I have been through, it is not even close), I will just give you the highlights.
My wife and I decided to have an entryway made from inside our garage into our house (it gets hard in the winter time when you have a young child). We also decided to have tiles installed in our kitchen (someone decided to install hardwood there previously) and in our front foyer.
The contractor seemed like a very knowledgeable person and assured us that we would see him overseeing the project. He even went to the store with us to help us pick out our tiles, grout, and door. We were very impressed with the level of cooperation and service we were getting. The project was estimated to take one week . My wife and I were very excited to have the new tiling and the new doorway made. We were very confident that we had made the right choice. I took a week off of work, and my wife and 8 month old girl moved into my parents house for the week while the work was being done.
Here is what happened:
- he (Gaunet) had untrained kids come in to do the demolition of the kitchen and foyer floors. They broke my kitchen island and chipped the sides as they tried to move it by lifting it by the counter top. (No one there to supervise them on how to do things properly).
- a tremendous amount of rubble had fallen into my basement from the use of jack-hammer to remove the existing tiles. When I asked about the the mess I was informed that they cannot do anything about that.
- the tiling in the front was very shoddy (many uneven tiles) and took several times to be redone - they were once putting them down crooked until I told them to rip them up and redo them - they actually had the gall to inform me that since I had them redo the work that this may entail a charge!
- this is now into the second week folks!
- the kitchen and garage door are still unfinished at this point by the way
- so they get the "boss's boss" to come in and have a look at the tiling and to assuage my concerns. He says all the right things and says that he will make sure that the contractor will finish the job to my satisfaction. I feel a glimmer of hope thinking that maybe now that things have escalated that something will finally get finished.
- then after a few days of not hearing back they finally contact me and do some more work and inform me that I don't have to pay the last installment - I thought to myself, maybe they actually feel some sort of guilt - but you know what? I would gladly pay the full price and just have everything done to my satisfaction!
- he looked me in the face and told me that he would be back the next day to finish everything off
- days went by and no one came by the house to do any work
- my wife and I gave up and began cleaning up the house ourselves - it took us a whole week to clean up the mess they left us with
- I had to pay a carpet installer to come in and fix a ruined piece of carpet
- even though they offer a 5 year warranty, I don't think it will extend to me, as I have not heard from them
- I can see the places where I know work will be required again, and I know that I will have to pay to things to get done right
This project has been extremely exhausting and depressing. Our initial excitement has been turned into bitterness and resentment. I can NEVER recommend this company for any type of job. They paint themselves as these big-time contractors when all they really are are a group of untrained do-it-yourselfers.
Currently, The side entrance door is installed, and all work promised within the invoice has been fully completed. Initially when the client claimed that the "counter had been separated from the base", HM Club had reimbursed the client's account $200.00.
There was direction given to workers by the client in regards to where to remove carpet, but unfortunately the client was not satisfied with a small portion of the carpet that had been removed. Therefore we reimbursed the client $200.00 to have the carpet repaired to his satisfaction.
It is quite realistic to have flyaway dust and debris when a renovation is in progress, particularly when flooring is removed. The main floor was kept free of dust through the duration, and continuously cleaned. The client requested that their basement be cleaned, although no work was being conducted there. To satisfy our client, we reimbursed $200.00 for the cleaning of the basement.
HM Club Canada takes pride in keeping our clients satisfied, and had initially thought Ajay was satisfied with the total credit of $700.00 for the minor dissatisfaction, the completion of all promised labour in accordance with the invoice, plus the project's three year guaranteed warranty.
We have tried on many occasions to contact Ajay to resolve issues at hand, but unfortunately have not received any response to date. However, we have informed Ajay that there is a three year warranty with the home project should any issues arise with workmanship. We are located at #1-11 Edvac Drive in the city of Brampton, and are available during regular business hours.
We regret to have lost a client, but do look forward to resolving any outstanding issues with Ajay.
RUN! RUN! RUN!!!
These guys are conmen. They will promise all kinds of great work in a timely fashion. After about a week you will stop hearing from them. Get ANY work the brothers have done checked by a REAL professional.
These guys took us for over $14,000.00 - never came close to completing the work (all they did right was tear down a wall and frame... and the framing was done by an employee they stiffed). They also fabricated a project to be done on the exterior of the house after a minor leak - said it would cost over $5000 - was later told by professional basement waterproffing company this was TOTALLY unecessary. Plumbing in the bathroom was so poorly done apparently the toilet never would have flushed.
We've had to have the plubming dug up and redone. Rehired another contract and now we are out another $10,000 to finish/fix what they have done.
Again I say RUN! RUN! RUN!!!!
Please note that there was communication between the client and our company from the beginning of this project, 9/13 up until 10/20, whereas the project was very close to completion. (There were email and phone communications.)
With the influences of two subcontractors(not employees) whom provided incompetent work (they were let go from our company on 10/20), this client demanded a full refund on 10/21. Client then proceeded to call Peel Police over a counter that the client requested our company to modify. Please note that the client made no attempt to request the counter through previous communications, in which we would have gladly returned upon request. (Counter returned to client on 10/22, where the deliverer witnessed the same two subcontractors, whom were let go from our company, working for the client on their own presumed agreed terms).
Exterior project was requested by the client, and they had received quotes from other companies, but chose us to complete it. Plumbing in the bathroom consisted of a toilet flange in a opposite direction, which is an Adjustable component. Please note that the Toilet was not installed as yet, and improvements were still in process.
HM Club has not had ONE dissatisfied client since our business opened in 2004. If there were issues with clients, we were prompt to resolve with a mutually agreed solution, thus resulting with a satisfied client. This was achievable because the client gave our company the opportunity to offer a resolution to their issue.
After the incident on 10/21, HM Club called the client on 10/22 to try to resolve, but unfortunately the offer was refused.
HM Club would love to resolve this client's issue, and have submitted a request for arbitration. Currently awaiting a response from the client.
Please feel free to contact us for many references, and project sites that you may visit to see, hear, and judge for yourself our workmanship and capabilities.
