We hired Home Renovator #1 to do some work in our house. Not only did they fail to keep a proper schedule, they were late or didn't show up at all. They also split their time between our house and another job they claimed they were doing.
The work was sub-par to say the least. They took materials that should have been left with us, as we had paid for them. The job was not finished when they left. We had given them a deposit for a kitchen island yet we never saw the receipt for the down payment we were told that Rich James had made for the counter top nor did we get that money back from them.
We tried calling a few times and when we finally made contact, we were told that they wanted more money and then sent an invoice which was quite different from the original invoices we had. We have photos of before, during and after this experience. We spoke with a lawyer regarding taking this matter to court and were advised not to proceed due to the fact that if we won our case, which we would have, getting any money from this business/individual could take forever.
Even though we had hired the company Home Renovator #1, our dealings were strictly with the person named Richie James aka Rick James.
Our advice to anyone thinking of using this company to find another company. We ended up wasting $3000.00 and now we have had to spend more to fix their errors. To our knowledge, none of the crew who did work on our house were licensed in any way shape or form. We were never shown any papers or given any references. Shame on us, I know.
To whom it may concern,
Yes, there is an outstanding invoice owed to Home Renovator #1, we have done many extras to this project that were not in the agreement and not paid. The agreement was that when we started this project they would have moved furniture and boxes. During the two week duration of the job we were constantly moving furniture and boxes to get the job done, we also had to work around their pets in which we found very difficult. Yes, we had put our time and travel into designing this island, the money that was put toward the project and the island was used towards the extras that were done. We still have an outstanding balance that is still owed and would liked to be paid.
Note: Customer supplied most materials.
Thanks, Home Renovator #1
