My 92 year old grandfather hired Vivek to design and build a walk out to his basement. Vivek did drawings that we agreed too but then began construction and didn't follow the plans we agreed on after bringing in 4 other professionals to assess the work he had begun they all where in shock at the corners and poor quality of work he provided do not use this company. Also 6 or more times he had agreed to meet to talk about work he did not show up or would send his wife to talk his way out of his poor quality of work.
7 months since i paid the deposit and i am still waiting on approved drawings.
Complete waste of time and money..... very unprofessional....
please dont make wrong comments, we may take a legal law suit against you, you are also equally responsible for your incomplete work, we have almost 38 emails from you regarding the changes you got from me.
Owner had to come down 3 times to measure and correct mistakes on his drawings. City told us not to bother submitting an application to duplex our bungalow if the property measurements were accurate on the drawings he provided. Each time we went home and found his measurements were wrong. Finally hired another designer who came down ONCE and provided us with drawings that were approved by the city. Asked owner to provide refund as we both work full time and couldn't have him coming back over and over again. Owner said this was a part of the process. We took the owner to small claims court. Finally I decided to settle with the owner for half of his bill as the court process was long and frustrating. Owner accused me of suing to reduce his fee, even though I submitted the other designers drawings with the court documents (with the receipt showing payment). Basically I paid over $800 for 5 useless pieces of paper that I never used. I waited a few months after settling to try and cool off and put things in perspective. I STILL feel cheated. The owner said he never has had any problems like this before. That may be the case but I would expect them to correct issues or reimburse for inaccurate, unusable drawings. I gave ample opportunities to correct their work and finally refused another attempt. I cannot recommend this company. Would have given 0 stars but that is not an option.

I'm writing this review to let people know what an amazing experience I had working with Vivek Gupta. He is caring, knowledgeable professional in his field. When I contacted Mr. Gupta I explained the difficult situation that I was in and that there was a sense of urgency to deal with my problem quickly. He came to visit the site the next day and made his written recommendation so swiftly within three days of our first contact. He explained the problem in detail, possible solutions and also cost involved in the rebuild. Mr Gupta is a very personable attentive and caring building designer. He is very knowledgeable in his field I highly recommend his firm!!
These days everyone is so concerned with themselves first, I found it very refreshing that his first concern was my safety and if he could be of assistance.
Very few people have pride in their work and their reputation the way I experienced with Mr Gupta hands there is no question these are the people to call first! From the time they called me until the time that they came out to visit my home inspect my problem and write out a recommendation only took 3 short days!! Wow great job!!!

Building Permits are necessary to ensure that zoning requirements, health, fire and structural safety standards and other building standards are met, primarily for safety reasons. Under the Ontario Building Code Act, a building permits is required for the construction or alteration of any structure over 10 sq.m. (108 sq.ft.) in area. Any accessory building (which is any building/structure other than the house) or deck not attached to the house that is less than 10 sq.m. (108 sq.ft.) does not require a permit, but still needs to comply with the City's Zoning By-law. Contact the local planning department for more information.
