I hired Jim to take over a job, I explained to him everything provided him the plans provided him inspector contact info to get all the details and based on that give me a quote and complete the job and close the permit, called me back after he talked to inspector give me a quote and agreed to complete everything we discussed.
-Jim Over Charges
-He cuts corners
-He did not follow building codes
-Used the cheapest materials
-He made me sign a 10 page contract which he didn't even follow
-He brought one helper to complete my project wrong and left it unfinished
-Everything he installed already falling apart doors not shutting frame already broke
-Used my materials without my permission
-Took my door without my permission
-Left garbage at my job site
-Asked him to come fix the mistakes he came made up stuff then left
-Inspection for his work failed by city inspector
-I asked him to provide me a tax receipt he did not give us and stopped answering his phone
I do not recommend him I attached pictures of his work I had to hire someone else to finish and fix his mistakes.
Response from Jim's Renovations
To these slandering comments I will reply
First of all, we were called by the client to complete a job that had been started by another contractor.
We gave the client a written quote as per the plans supplied to us by the client.even though after much conversation with city building inspector
Ms.Miranda Watt, with the city of Ottawa who will confirm that all the work that we carried out was as per o.b.c. Even though the drawings that we quoted off were not conform to the o.b.c.
As for building material, all was brand new and exactly what is required by o.b.c. Or better.
When we left the site everything was working according to trade quality and standards
As for garbage that was supposedly left on his site, it was material left from prior contractor whom this client also has been trying to trash.
As for receipt, I told him I would be providing it once full payment was received which stil hasn't been received from him.
Any warranty work will only be carried out once full payment has been received from the client.
As for a door that was supposedly taken, my helper an I both asked client if he wanted us to take it with the rest of the trash that we had made during the work and he agreed.
I will be filing with the Ottawa division of the small claims court for payment of the balance due.
I am curious why a client for whom we did such bad work and things, would ask us to go to his sisters house and do repairs to the property she rents that was caused by domestic disputes before she can move out and return the house to the owners in the condition it was in when she moved in.
