Back when Shawn owned and operated under the name Essette Construction, he was contracted to do work at my house. He never did the work & walked with the down payment.
I took Essette to court and won. He closed the company and emptied the bank accounts before I could get paid.
Take my advice. steer clear.
John originally contracted our company to have a garage built. We signed a contract and were given a $3000 deposit. We spent approximately 2 months drawing plans, meeting with the town and dealing with surveyors. His lot was in fact 2 lots that had to be consolidated into 1 in order to have the project go ahead. John was unaware that his land was divided in 2 lots and it was only when we went to the city on his behalf to apply for the permit that this was revealed. In working with the tity we had the land resurveyed so a new certificate of location could be issued. We submitted drawing to the town council for approval by the planning committee and were told we would have to revise the plans. As the new set of drawings were being prepared we were informed by John that he no longer wished to proceed with the construction of the garage and that he was planning on selling the house. He asked that we inspect and make any necessary repairs to his enclosed front porch so that the house would be ready to sell. Which we did.
In total we performed $4027.42 worth of work for John. Unfortunately he decided that the work we did was only worth $500. He filed a claim against us and won without us ever getting our day in court. We are currently exploring our options to recover the $1027.42 still owed to us by John and to have the judgement against us overturned.
I ask you John, if I were trying to hide would I change the name of my company to my own personal name? Don't think so.
John is someone that thinks someone's time is of no value and has plenty of time of his own to waste on some vendetta that he has created in his own mind.
