Pros: Matt has done work for us twice now, both times being a specific project (bathroom overhaul then later patching drywall holes from some wiring and plumbing work). Both times his work quality has been fantastic, as described by other professionals who have done work on our house. He's very good at what he does, and what he isn't good at he defers to other professionals. He is very kind and clearly wanted the best for my wife and me.
Cons: Both times the primary work went over time and over budget. I attribute this to his desire to do a great job and to his exuberant optimism. If accurate estimates matter to you, be sure to drill into the details of his quote to make sure all the details are covered.
If a contract such as Matt is readily available for work at this busy time. Run !!! Had to hire someone else to finish the job. Matt had zero ability to listen and does whatever he wants. His prices are very high and his skills as a contractor are very poor. He calls himself a contractor but no one at the big box stores where all the contractors know each other have ever heard of him. His ability to hire trades people are self serving. He gets a LARGE cut from everyone. Despite his claims that the job would be done on time it wasn't and not because of unforseen problems but simply because he only worked about 5 hours a day until the end of the project then he sped up but he still didn't do the job. His favorite saying was that it wasnt in his scope of work. If it isn't then CHANGE YOUR SCOPE. The customer is always right not the hired help. Thankfully my new contractor works 18 hour days if need be just to get a job done and done right! I hope no one else will ever have this experience.
Matt is courteous and professional. He worked his schedule around me, carefully answered all my questions, explained every detail. Matt wouldn't complete the job until he was thoroughly satisfied with his job. Even when I thought he had reached perfection, he still improved upon it. I am 100% thrilled with the job he did and wouldn't hesitate a second before calling him again.

Matt of All Trades - complete renovation and handyman services.
Matt of All Trades was incorporated in October 2010, but Matthew Rogers has been providing construction, renovation and handyman services for over 20 years. The incorporated company brings together Matt's hard-earned construction and renovation skills, with co-owner Nathalie's business background (and design saavy). In short, Matt of All Trades is the result of years of practical experience gained as a framer, as a painter, as a landlord doing overhauls on several investment properties, and as a friend and neighbour providing services in personal residences to friends and family.
Matt has been passionate about residential construction since his early twenties. He enrolled in a Construction Engineering and Architecture program at Conestoga College and has been putting the knowledge gained there to use ever since.
Matt specializes in residential construction - particularly in the renovation of existing homes, helping to turn the dreams of his customer into reality.
Matt is involved in several local sports leagues (baseball and volleyball primarily), which has allowed him the opportunity to build a reliable network of trades, thus solidifying a base of sub-trades that he uses and trusts. Matt firmly believes that knowing what you can do is important, but knowing what you can't is just as important.
Matt of All Trades looks forward to discussing your upcoming projects - no matter if you are simply in the design and conception phase, or if you have concrete plans in place and are looking for a professional, competitive quote. Please do not hesitate to contact us!
