We contacted Darrel about our basement renovation based on the reviews on this site. We did not personally know anyone who had worked with him but upon meeting him knew right away he would be a good fit for us and really cared about the quality of his work.

Due to a previous 'not so wonderful' experience with a general contractor, we hired Darrel to do about 2/3rd of the work in the basement and had our own people that we had already used before and trusted to do several jobs as well. Our job was a complete gut of our 700 square foot basement, foundation crack repair, spray foam insulation, some plumbing repairs, then reframing, new laundry room, bathroom, office space and TV room.

The project was completed on time and with virtually NO problems whatsoever. There were some small issues with the carpet installation which Darrel had corrected straight away.

All in all, it was one of the most painless and easy renovations I have ever done. Darrel is incredibly easy to work with, always on time, always fair, always courteous and considerate of your views, your home and the costs involved. Darrel is a very good General Contractor - he hires quality trades people and is on top of everything that is going on. We were extremely pleased with Darrel and his team and love our new basement. We will be asking Darrel to work with us again in the future on other projects.

We were desperate to get a new covering for a small deck before winter set in. Darrel had been recommended by a friend. He phoned almost as soon as I'd clicked 'send' on my email. The he came as promised and made an assessment, then he came as promised and did the work. It looks splendid and was finished before the snow. Full marks for punctuality, efficiency and courtesy.

Darrel removed our our old open deck, then designed, built and attached a new open deck that seamlessly attached to an existing covered deck. Darrel is a man you can trust to give you an honest opinion, a fair estimate and good workmanship. There were a few little imperfections, but in each case, Darrel's high standards meant we had only to point out the concern and it was dealt with. We are very happy with the end result and would not hesitate to recommend Darrel.

Had 3 contractors bid on the work. Darrel had the best quote. One said they could have it done in about 6 weeks. Darrel assured us he could have it done by the end of the month. At this point I have hired Measure Up Contracting for four different jobs over the space of a year ($12,000+ worth of work in 2013-2014). Darrel and his team have done excellent work every time. He is an excellent tradesman himself and seems to have a line on some great subcontractors when he has agreed to general contract some work. I don't use the Yellow Pages anymore to find a contractor -- I just call Darrel. Always courteous and fair. Worth every penny!

Darrell did a great job fixing a botched job from my home builder. My dryer is located on the second floor of my town home, and the ductwork goes directly through the attic and to the roof. For 2 winters now, whenever I ran a heavy load of laundry the steam would go through the ductwork, become condensation and vaporize and leak out one of the ductwork joints and down into the wall. I was dealing with major cracked walls and moisture damage. Darrell, replaced the metal ductwork with insulated flex ductwork and created a drip loop to fix the problem. Very professionally done. He also noticed one of the vents on the roof was loose and close to falling and fixed it free of charge. I would highly recommend him, and would definitely use his company's services again!

We hired Measure Up Contracting to repair water damage to our basement. Darrel wasn’t the lowest quote that we received but he was much more thorough than anyone else. He subcontracted the foundation repair to ensure it was done by people who specialize in that work and was able to get a better rate from them than we asked for an estimate on a separate occasion. He passed the savings on to us. Unlike other contractors we’ve hired in the past for various projects, Darrel always arrived when he said he would and put in a full day’s work. He was very courteous and exceeded our expectations by finishing before Christmas even though the timeline was very tight. From his estimate through his workmanship, Darrel’s attention to detail is exceptional. He will be the first person we call for future projects.

One Friday before the first big snowfall this winter, I drove the car into the garage and bumped into my garage frame and broke my entrance garage door. I was panic and look forward to finding someone could come in to check the damage for me over the weekend.

I kept calling all resources I could find. Other than voicemail, Darrel from Measure Up contracting is the only one to pick up my phone. Thanks, God. And I even remember it's 10:30 at night. Darrel listened to my description of the garage damage and explain to me with patience all the possibility of damage could be. And he agreed to come to check the site the next day (it's a Satureday). After Darrel checking the site, he came up with the repair plan and quote right away. All the repair were done in a week. Measureup contracting's work is nice, sleek and clean. Now my garage is brand new as before. Darrel even shared a lot of house maintainance tip with my husband when he did the work for us. If my house need more work done in the future, I definitely will hire them again. Or I will recommend them to any friend that need nice contracting job done.

My husband and I own a house in Saint Albert but we live in the Arctic. Our rental property needed a new deck and we went with Darrel's company. He walked us through every step of the process, handled all the city paper work for us and answered any questions we had. He was extremely prompt in his responses. He keep us up to date as to the progress of our deck and sent us several pictures of the finished product. All in all, we are extremely pleased with his work.

Measure Up built us a two-tiered outside deck along the full side of our house in Mill Woods. We booked the build in late September 2012 but Measure Up was not able to get construction underway until May 2013. However, once the snow was gone, the deck completion was delivered within a week in early May, as promised. Darrel pulled a permit for the deck as per City of Edmonton requirements and provided the design documentation to the City. The completed deck passed inspection with flying colors -- no problems whatsoever. The choice and quality of materials was excellent, site clean-up was thorough. Darrel was courteous throughout. He kept us well-informed about his progress and always advised us about our options as the build progressed. We would hire Measure Up again, for sure.
