Miguel painted our house late Spring. The final product looks good enough, but there are a few things you have to be alert when hiring him. Miguel is a pleasant person that looks like he'd be your friend, even. That image is a bit misleading. Here are a few reasons:
1) he stated he'd do things that did not show up in the contract; when the work was doe he claimed he never said he'd do those things, and showed us the contract. He did it with a couple minor things, which he ended up doing, but we had to fight him for that, and it was quite unpleasant.
2) he jacked up prices for very minor additions to what we originally agreed upon; he was quite misleading as to what the cost would be "this costs 25$" translated into "this costs 25$ per piece, so it is actually 100$".
3) he was sloppy in choosing the paint. A few weeks after he was done, the painting in the railing and in the fireplace started peeling off.
4) he was sloppy painting in "delicate" places: the place where we hang one of the towels is painted "behind". One can't see it, but it is there.
5) he painted the powder room poorly. One week after he was gone, the paint was full of cracks.
6) he said it'd take a few days, and it ended up taking more than twice the agreed time. He left multiple days quite "early" which was surprising at first, and very annoying when he was getting well over time.
We tried to contact him to come fix those things, and he never replied. We had to get other people to do them. In all, the house looks good, but I am not hiring him again.
[Edit: his reply is a joke. The railings "should not peel off"; we agree they shouldn't... but they did. He claims to never verbally agreed to do the door arm job; alright, he did though (regardless of what he claims now). The sloppiness also happened, regardless of what he says now. Funny I learnt in his reply all the stuff about the powder room; he never told that to us prior to the job.
Anyhow, his list of his replies are a joke. The best one, he now claims to be all offended... why, because you got an honest review, Miguel?]
Most or the majority of my customers that I have done work for know these are not depictions of myself, I came to see the scope of work and explained to the Owners what needed to be done, the garage door arm closer screwed to the door jam was busted, they asked if I could repair it, I said yes I can do it. Meaning if agreed and written or by word agreement, it didn't come up until the last day of work, saying I had agreed to get it done which I did not do by word agreement or written on the Estimate. During the painting process they asked if I could do other work which I agreed to and told them the price for each extra item added; About choosing the paint, hand railing banisters are some times stained and some other times are painted, the paint used was one of the best in the market and should not peel off as claimed; Delicate places and sloppiness, "if One can't see it", I ask how could you see it? My apologies I did not see it otherwise I would've cleaned it up.
The powder room had an accent wall which the previous owner or painter used tape to get straight lines, someone used pure silicone on the corner of the walls which is not paintable and causes paint to show crack like forms, I'm sorry that happened, I was only doing a repaint on all of the walls.
Sorry I could not provide you with perfection, but I hope you find it somewhere out there!
Thanks for your review and recommendation.

RE//Bad review from customer
1- On visit to assess the job, customers asked if I could do certain tasks, being a multi-trade skilled person, I responded yes, I can do that for you; This does not mean for free in any way or form.
2- I finish the job and asked them to check for deficiencies and get those done on the final day in order to get paid.
3- Went to do the final and they pointed at the stairs skirt while I pointed at them, that was not included on the Estimate, I ended up painting the steps skirts as the Banister paint colour used was slightly different-No charge for that as I found it to be necessary.
4- Final day, door arm closer came up as a job I had not done, again explained my answer to their question about being able to fix it or not and it was not quoted either on the Estimate.
5- The $25.00 Dollar jack up price, the master bedroom windows had curtains, I asked them if they were going to re instal them, they said no; on the touch up day they wanted the rod curtain holders to be removed after the painting was already done, the work quoted at 25x4 =$100.00 work needed to be done, removal of screws, patching, sanding, priming and painting @ 2 coats of paint.
6- Sloppy choosing the finish paint, Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore top quality paints used.
7- Why I did not reply
There is one fundamental principle which is RESPECT and out of respect to me, having completed the work and done more than quoted originally therefore taken advantage and disrespected at the end.
Last but not least, I feel Trusted Pros fail to ask me if I had proof arguments to avoid the customer complain and negative review which may cause negative and loss of Business to our small Company.

We are renovating our kitchen and a good portion of the drywall had to be replaced, including the bulkhead area. We managed to get the drywall installed ourselves, but needed a professional who could come in and apply the finish coats, especially to the ceiling area that is smooth. Miguel was kind enough to come on a weekend to look at the work and gave us the quote the following Monday. He and his colleague Diego arrived on the day he said they would and completed the work within 2 days. We are very pleased with their work. Miguel and Diego are very friendly and approachable. We highly recommend Miguel for any of your drywall and painting needs.

We hired Miguel to paint our front door and paint/repair our garage door frame In anticipation of a new garage door instal. Miguel came to provide an estimate (which was very reasonable) and was able to book the work shortly after that. He and his worker were polite, prompt and provided timely and detailed work. They cleaned everything up after they were done. This is our second time using Moncast Painting and we would highly recommend them for any painting or repairs inside or outside your home. Great work!
Thanks Dee, for taking the time to share your experience and satisfaction for the services we provided to you!
We will be glad to help you with your future projects!
