Natasha and her team at Natural Carpentry did an exceptional job. Natasha came to the house to brainstorm a plan, listened to our needs and ideas and proposed a plan that was creative, appropriate and reasonable. She honoured her commitments, was on time to do the work and left the work site spotless at the end of each day. Now that we have a beautiful finished product - the quality of work is exceptional and we are thrilled! We will hiring Natural Carpentry again without hesitation.
Natasha and her team from Natural Carpentry are a joy to work with. They are highly skilled, professional, personable, flexible, and easy to work with. They strive for excellence in everything they do and they aren't happy until the customer is. Visitors to our house constantly give compliments about the work that they have done. I couldn't recommend Natasha and Natural Carpentry more highly.
I was extremely pleased with the finished product and my husband who is very critical said the work was extremely well done.
Yes, I would highly recommend Natasha to anyone asking for a professional carpenter.
Also I did hire her because she was a woman and I felt more comfortable dealing with her than with the opposite gender.
The Natural Carpentry team completed their work as promised - on time, on budget and to an exemplary level of quality. I would recommend this company to any homeowner looking for top level carpentry skills and quality work.
We were referred to Natural Carpentry by a tradesperson who felt our project was too extensive to take on themselves. The entire process was seamless. Natasha and Dan are a great team- they showed up on time, were transparent with us about what would work and what they didn't recommend, and also took care in supervising the sub contractors that were called in for specific tasks. Communication was clear and consistent . They also stood behind the quality of their work- following up promptly when a small touch up was required months after the project had wrapped. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for projects large or small.
I am thrilled with my new kitchen reno that Natural Carpentry has done recently. My experience with them was excellent from start to finish. The communication between us was always honest and clearly stated whenever there was a concern or questions; which made the whole experience flow smoothly and professionally and pretty much on time.
From installations, tiling (beautiful), dry walling, and cleanliness I give a 5 star rating! Natural Carpentry is small enough to CARE and large enough to handle any job inside or out!
I'm a contractor, and I have hired natural carpentry on many occasions. I had a cabinet maker who built a beautiful cabinet, but screw up the drawers. The cabinet could not be moved, Natasha mapped the whole thing out and built new drawers in her shop and they fit perfectly, which pleased my very upset client. She's also worked on many of my sites building roofs, installing windows, installing hardi board siding, scalloped shingles, trim work, replacing a roof deck, including removing it right down to the pillars of the porch below, and framing the whole thing back up. I've never been disappointed by her hard work and attention to detail.
Natasha and Dan from Natural Carpentry were amazing to work with. They are very precise with fine detail and patient in their approach to your needs. They built a backyard cabana for us and despite running into some issues with the landscaping company not pouring the footing properly Dan was very professional in helping us to make this work. The pergola was built beautifully and very sturdy again with attention to fine detail. Their pricing is very fair for the work they provided and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a job well done. I am looking forward to doing more projects in the near future with them. I will be and have already been referring them to many of my friends Thanks again Natural Carpentry and keep up the good work!!
I hired Natural Carpentry for a variety of jobs during the renovation of three story brick duplex. They did all the framing which also including much structural repair. Natasha was able to save a unique polyhedral staircase built in the 1920's that had been thought to be on the demolition list. They were back on board to install all the new trim. It all came out beautifully including the stain matching they did to the repair original trim. Just after they left, the flat roof of the front porch was being redone only to find that most of the porch was infested with carpenter ants. I called Dan to see what could be done. He was able to come a couple days later to check it out and they had the whole thing rebuilt the next week!
I couldn't have been happier with my experience with Natural Carpentry. They are knowledgable and friendly, their prices were reasonable and the quality of workmanship was outstanding. I look forward to hiring them again.
At first, Dan (one of the owners) was very courteous and helpful. He provided a quote and gave me an idea of the costs involved. I was a little disappointing that he could not give me a firm price, but I worked with him on this front. The work began shortly after the quote was done and was all completed in a short period of time with his partner. The wood work was done nicely, although 6 months later, I have noticed some wearing out of renovated wood. My issue here is with the railings that were installed. Firstly, I was never asked which type of railings (brand or style) I wanted to purchase. Dan simply bought railings and on the date of install, just started putting them in. Now I had made several calls before signing up with this company, getting quotes and so on. Dan was charging me the average going price of $1650 which included removal and disposal of old railings as well as a new install and since he was repairing the columns, I just went with his company for both. He and his partner had a lot of difficulty installing the railings (4 sides) and they seemed very inexperienced at this part of the job. On completion of this work, I made payment and thought all was good. Within 1 month, a bar came off one of the railings and another side of the railing was loose. I immediately contacted Dan of Natural Carpentry via email and then by phone and explained the problem. I then asked that he come by to fix this. To my surprise, Dan was very slow to react and would not commit to coming and fixing the new railings for an 8 week period. His excuse was that he was very busy and not in my area. At this time I had 2 young children and a pregnant wife with multiple layers of steps at my home leading to the front door, so I was even more taken back by Dan's nonchalant attitude and disrespect for our safety which is in violation of any code out there. I finally said to him that I had my reliable and courteous handyman fix it. Dan responded by saying, ok just bill me what it cost.
Over the next several months and through the winter, the railings continued to break on different sides, to the point the my little 4 year old and pregnant wife nearly fell down all the steps onto concrete. Fuming, I contacted Dan again and told him to fix the broken rods and inspect the railings. This time Dan came within 1 week. Upon arrival, he did not make my wife, who was at home, aware that he was outside and once completed, left. I contacted Dan the same day and asked if he did what was asked. He said he only fixed the rods but did not inspect the railings. Again, to my utter disappointment and frustration asked why? With all the problems we've had since the railings were installed did you not inspect to ensure that the installation was done correctly? Dan said that I never asked him to inspect the work, but to only fix what was currently broken. Shocking? I wasn't surprised by his response by now. Even though I have proof in emails, where most of our communication was done, Dan continued to deny that I asked him this request in a rude and condescending voice. If you are looking for some work done by a respectable, honest company that truly care about the work they do for your hard working dollars, company that has strong ethics and does the job right to ensure the safety of others, please don't waste your time or money on these guys. If you do, keep your fingers crossed! I still don't know if my family will one day slip while using our brand new crappy $1650 railings in a brand that I would never have purchased, given the option.
A very very unhappy past customer...
Brad contacted us June 26th 2013 in regards to rot repairs on his front porch columns. The price we gave for the repair was per lineal foot; we estimated that there would be 3' of repair necessary, however 5' was necessary. This is the only part of our original quote that changed; without removing the column baseboard upon commencing the job it was difficult to assess the severity of the rot damage.
We replied that day requesting more detail and to arrange a consultation, at which point Brad mentioned replacing the handrail. In this e-mail Brad specifically uses the term "non-custom aluminum" when describing the handrail. A meeting was made for the following evening. At the meeting Dan told Brad we would be purchasing a black handrail from Home Depot because we had installed it before; Brad agreed.
We sent Brad the estimate on July 5th 2013, stating we could begin the job in about one month and would require a deposit of $1000.00 upon signing the contract. Brad replied that day stating he would like to proceed and was prepared to make the deposit; a meeting was set for July 18th to sign. Upon signing the contract Brad then gave Dan a cheque for $500.00 saying he'd had a bad past experience. Despite this we proceeded with the work.
We contacted Brad on July 29th 2013 informing him we would be able to begin work on August 3rd and that the job would take about 2 days. We completed handrail installation August 4th, within the estimated timeline. Upon completion Brad remitted final payment, expressed satisfaction with the work and did not mention any disapproval for the style of handrail.
Brad sent us an e-mail August 27th 2013 stating that one railing may need to be tightened; he then contacted us again on September 9th 2013 because we had not responded. This was a mistake on our part without a doubt, and we responded apologetically, mentioning we would be able to come by that weekend and would contact him with a time. On September 13th 2013 Brad e-mailed us stating Sunday was the only day that would work for him, we replied saying Sunday would not work but we could come September 17th in the evening around 8:00 pm; Brad agreed.Brad then contacted us Tuesday the 17th asking what time we were coming and expressed concern that coming too late in the evening prevent us from see the railing properly. We replied saying that was the earliest we'd be able to get there and that we could come on the weekend instead. Brad replied the following day stating he had someone else fix it. We replied with an apology and told him he could bill us if he sent his handyman's invoice for the time, which he did not. A process which took 23 days.
Brad then contacted us Jan 25th 2014 saying some of the posts to the handrail had come off. Brad related to Dan that 2 pickets had fallen out and Dan indicated that we would come by to fix it as soon as we could. February 6th we confirmed him via e-mail a time of 9 am on February 7th. Brad stated his wife would be there, if she was not home she would place an extension cord outside along with the pieces that had fallen out. When we arrived at Brad home at 9 am, the extension cord along with the pickets had been placed outside. We re-installed the pickets; unsure how they came out as we had to remove the top handrail to re-install them; there did not appear to be anything else wrong with the handrail, and the requested repairs were complete so we left. Approximately an hour after we left Brad called Dan in an agitated state because we had not spoken with his wife. The conversation ended with Brad stating he would inspect the handrail when he got home and that if there was anything wrong he would contact us; Dan agreed. Brad has not contacted us since. After having his own handyman look at the railing we cannot be held responsible for any malfunction experienced afterwards as it may have compromised our work.
