Tommy Oliver signed a contract with us to undertake renovations at our cottage on Six Mlle Lake. We paid about $6000 as a deposit in the fall of 2021.
After Tommy told us he had to postpone the work due to labour shortages, we agreed to move the start date to spring, 2022.
In March, 2022 we tried to contact Tommy to confirm our start date only to find that he had shut down the company and moved to Vancouver..
We were able to trace him and had several phone calls and text message exchanges in which he said he would pay us back but would not give a timeline. The last we heard, he was still saying the same thing. But we have had no repayment or plan from him to do so.
Lately he has not returned texts or phone calls.
Shabby and unprofessional behaviour.
Seems as though I had the same experience as others who have reviewed. I only wish we had seen this prior to handing over money to Tom.
He took our money, any work that was done(framing) was sub par and then is no where to be found after taking over 16,000. Work not completed, materials not delivered. He didn’t pay his staff.. they quit.
Read the reviews on this scam artist he clearly has some ‘issues’ that need resolving and I really hope no one else hands over their hard working dollars to this deadbeat.
I received an estimate on Aug. 17/18 to renovate my condo bathroom, as a senior I wanted things to be more convenient and paid a deposit of $4,000.00, the work was to start Sept. 24/18. On Aug. 24, due to personal reasons I had to cancel and requested my deposit back. After many emails and phone calls, many which went unanswered, On Oct. 3rd, he paid me back $1,000.00 and another $1,000.00 on Oct. 11th. As of today, Dec. 11/18 there has been no more deposits and no timeline as to when the $2,000.00, my emails and phone calls are unanswered.
On checking previous reviews that has given this company a good rating, all are from a couple of years ago, there are none for 2017 or 2018.
Wanted to have my unfinished basement of just under 1000sqft finished. Told it would be a 5 week time frame to complete and it has turned into 17 weeks and counting. Contractor did not finish the work and has no plans on coming back, all trim for windows, baseboards and doors not supplied or installed. Grout holes in shower and tiles missing and damage (dent) to new shower pan from something that was dropped on it. Drywall seams visible and painted over mudding that was not sanded. Paint missing in areas and paint drips on walls all over. Paint on personal items left in basement. Original agreed price for the project was revised without any consultation or signed agreement from us by 20 %. He also did not pay his subcontractor with the funds he collected from us, who can now put a lien on my home. Quality of work is poor. I would not recommend him for any work. Very bad customer service except when it is time to collect a cheque.

Complaint: Our company did work for one of Tom Oliver s companies and 10 months later it s still unpaid. Today we received notice that he s going bankrupt. He appears to open a company, close it with hundreds of thousands in debt and reopens. Not at all trustworthy.
