Jimmy Byrne put a new roof on my home. Nothing but or leaks and problems ever since. He charged me for all new ply wood and roofing materials. He put the new shingles right over top old rotting material no new ply wood was ever used. Then he didn’t seal the venting and used huge screws that punctured holes everywhere. Completely had no idea what he was doing so I am out all that experience and still need a new roof. He skipped town and I see he is ripping people off all over. Beware, he needs to be stopped.
I hired Jimmy Byrnes to level a cabin in the summer of 2022. The main part of the building was lower in one corner, he came out visually inspected it and said that he would build a subframe under that portion which would resolve my issues. He asked for material costs up front, which I did (and now know never to do that again) The day he started and called to say that the extension was the real issue, and it would cost me another $2000 in materials. I worked on the extension first, which resolved some of the issues. Once all the work was completed he wanted the remained of the labour costs, I wanted to physically inspect it before paying, I headed there that night, he was texting me all night asking for payment. He would not provide invoice or material list until after I paid. The next day we took off all the skirting to find out all he did was the extension. He did not use new wood, but leftovers from other jobs. When I told him that I was not going to pay, he said someone from his office would be in contact (he also did not return the keys, so I re-keyed the cabin) I never heard from anyone. He has since blocked me from his Facebook account, the business account. If anyone would like to see correspondence or photos regarding Jimmy please reach out and I will provide.
Scam! This Jimmy guy is a scam, he will ask money at front when there is no progress and convince you to pay when he drops off the material, once you paid, he then comes back, takes away the materials and walks away. We are filing law suit right now.
I agreed to a quote for deck railing. He had someone come and remove old railing that left a mess and did some damage. Said it would be all fixed and clean. That’s was several months ago. Has said given many excuses as to why has done work that was contracted and now is ignoring all my messages. Very bad customer service and work quality.
Warning do not trust Jimmy Byrne. Poor work quality not to code, all the work had to be redone.
His work was reviewed by 2 different Red Seal Carpenters who said is was some of the work they had seen.
Issues with different stair height. Non secured posts supporting the deck. The duradeck installation was a complete disaster. Several areas where screws were run through the decking material, drip edge not installed or installed improperly.
Nails protruding through handrail on stairs, railing on deck no safe.
He was working out Courtney / Comox / Cumberland area, but has now apparently packed up and left town headed to perhaps Tumbler Ridge.
