Hopefully this review will help you avoid the nightmare we had working with Paul Davis and Jeff Moore as our "project manager" - I feel Jeff's title should be changed to "project unmanager" because he basically tossed out different parts of our job (repairs like drywall, plumbing, electrical, flooring) like candies to sub-contractors and then was completely hands-off, which led to mistake after mistake... like missing 2 entire kitchen walls with severe water damage that were scoped to be redone - or cutting 8 holes for ceiling lights too big for the lights, so the newly laid drywall now needs to be redone a second time - or sending us back into the home despite the electrical contractor having said it was unsafe due to live electrical wired dangling unprotected in the kitchen and bathroom and then not sending someone to fix the issue for a couple of weeks. The work quality was terrible except for the kitchen (thank you Adrian for your excellent work and customer service). About 2.5 months after the work started, with many things still in progress, Jeff Moore just stopped communicating with us and the Desjardin adjuster altogether. This is all documented in writing. Desjardin eventually gave up and removed Paul Davis from our project. I could not imagine a more unprofessional, bumbling and unethical experience - and in the past I have researched / written many articles about customer service as a business journalist.
Although having any disaster is upsetting our experience with Paul Davis started with the call center operator Brenda. we called and Jeff Moore replied very quickly. Jeff came out with a hour or two and explained what needed to be done. he arranged for staff to come out that night and setup fans to help rid the smoke. a Cleaning crew was out the next morning and WORKED VERY hard all day. Things are moving along and we have been treated VERY well so far. We certainly rate our experience as a 5 star. We feel this will continue untill the work is complete. A big thank you Jeff and all the staff he has sent over.
I Hired PaulDavis to complete a renovation at my home. Jeff Moore was the project manager assigned and Dencell Green was his subcontractor - PaulDavis doesn't actually do any of the work, it is all contracted out. There were 4 significant blunders that occurred on the project (and a number of smaller ones along the way). The significant blunders were all caused by lack of project management and were - (i) ordering the incorrect number of structural beams - about 4 weeks for each separate order - creating a major timing issue; (ii) subfloors "accidently" ripped up by subcontractors. And instead of replacing with new plywood, the team put the damaged wood back down on the floor; (iii) incorrect insulation put into the ceilings even thought the city of Pickering inspectors clearly indicated to Jeff Moore the insulation that was required; and (iv) gas fittings for fireplaces that were in the home (and remaining) were removed by "accident".
And the best part of all, I was asked by Mr. Moore to pay the remaining balance owing (less 10%) before he would commence any additional work. I requested an alternative payment schedule due to the major missteps that had occurred as well as the fact that we were now moving to the third schedule detailing new timelines for the completion of the project. This was met with refusal to do any further work on the project and Jeff Moore had the electrician that was subcontracted immediately pull the electrical permit.
Overall, it was a very bad experience and I'm out a lot of money for all the work that needs to be completed.
Our rental water heater from Enercare failed at the main inlet pipe on Feb. 10th/2020 at 4:00 AM. Fire dept. shut off water at 4.45AM. By 9.00 AM, Certas Insurance had Matthew Diamond, Paul Davis' project manager AND his remediation crew on site, and working to minimize the possible damage. Maurizio and his crew had everything under control and worked in a thorough and co-ordinated effort with draining the area, removing flooring , sub-floor, baseboards, casings, and drywall very quickly. I am amazed and thrilled with how quickly, efficiently, and skillfully this restoration took place. The remediation crew finished the final phase of the job on Mar.3rd., just eighteen days from start to finish. All workmanship is first class. Rec-room ,bedrooms, bathroom and seasonal room all look as they did 2 rears ago when the basement was originally finished. This was a class operation from start to finish. I would insist upon Paul Davis Durham to remedy any future woes if, God forbid, we should ever be in need of their services, Special thanks to Matt Diamond, Maurizio, Abel & crews, contractors Leo, Mo, Iggy, Simon & Lou. A great job done well . Completed in a time frame that relatives & friends did not believe possible. We couldn't be happier !!!
Best regards, Linda Lachine & Jim Cochrane
