I recently contracted In the Mind's Eye Contracting to develop my basement. From the very start, the project went smoothly.
The first step was finding a quality contractor. I searched through the Better Business Bureau and found John Csuhany of In the Mind's Eye Contracting. The next step was the contract. It was well written and very detailed and we sat down and went through it and he made sure I understood all aspects of the project ahead. We discussed the work schedule, the suppliers and the payment terms. He suggested different options for design and products. He proved to be knowledgeable, creative and experienced. All that was left to do now was pick out my materials from the vendor list he supplied me and get to work. Throughout the project, John was very good at keeping me up to date on the schedule of work and how it was progressing. He always advised me which subcontractors/trades would be in my home and on what days and times they would be there. They all treated my home with care and respect. As with any project, things come up and when they did he dealt with them immediately and effectively. Progress payments, as outlined in his contract, were on schedule. The invoicing was clear with copies of receipts attached for any extras, which were minimal and I was informed of. Any changes after the contract was signed were discussed in detail and a change order was written up for authorization before proceeding. All work performed on my home was on the up and up.
If you are thinking of hiring this contractor, then you will be in good hands and can rest assured that you will get a quality job done, on time, on budget and with no hassles. You get what you pay for and I got my monies worth. In an industry where you hear so many horror stories, I am glad to say this was definitely not the case.
I strongly recommend "In the Mind's Eye Contracting".
We would highly recommend John to anyone for many reasons: He does absolutely top notch work, he provides excellent ideas, he keeps an open line of communication with us at all times, he was personally at our home every day, he hires top notch contractors, he really listens and cares about what we want, the work site was kept very clean, he started on time, and finished within the time frame and on budget - including doing the changes and additions we requested. We would hire John again in a heartbeat and highly recommend him! If you want a top notch job with a contractor who is pleasant to work with and who really cares then In the Minds Eye Contracting is for you!
In 2009 I hired John Csuhany from Minds Eye Contracting to start the first of a four-stage renovation project on my 70 year old home. Over the ensuing four years, I found John to be open, honest, and enthusiastic about sharing my vision of the finished project. He understood fully the look and style of the era I was aiming for and helped achieve it through his knowledge of suppliers, his craftsmanship, his sub-contractors and his high standards.
John worked within my budget. The lines of communication were always open. Any added expense was always discussed first and agreed upon. There were never any surprises. I found John to be a very good problem-solver in dealing with an old home and the challenges that it sometimes presented.
The custom work is one of the things that gives the house its unique look. John and his team achieved this through the built-in bookshelves, the tile work in the bathroom and kitchen, the refinishing of the original hardwood floors, and all of the woodwork that went into the window casings and doorframes.
My experience working with John was both rewarding and educational. I wouldn't hesitate to hire John again or to recommend him to anyone who is looking for a good, reliable, professional contractor.
Garage upgrade/completion - drywall, insulation, radiant heater installation, pony panel, lighting and electrical installation to facilitate a woodworking shop.
Job went very well, all my expectations of services that should be provided by a good General Contractor were met, and then some.
Communications were timely, descriptive and I appreciated the fact that I was informed of the cost increase of a lighting product recommended to better meet my light requirement before the fixtures were purchased.
John took the time to understand what I wanted and delivered, Thank you John
We had never hired a contractor before and after hearing so many horror stories we had major reservations. I found In the Minds Eye Contracting on Handy Canadian. Much to my surprise they exceeded all expectations. We had a basement bathroom renovated along with a small playroom (maybe future den or office). The quality of workmanship and level of courteous was great. I will keep them in mind with future renovations.
We had a tub and tile surround put in a main-floor bathroom. John informed me of the provincial 'Hiring a Contractor' rules, and then stuck to them. He sent photos of similar work to help us consider designs and gave good input into what different choices would look like. He took time to inform me of enough details to allow me to make informed decisions. He was willing to source and pick up items, or let me do that when I chose to. I liked the team approach. He paid close attention to keeping our house functional for us and worked hard to keep inconveniences to a minimum. His subcontractors were also friendly, courteous and good at their job. John did not hesitate to take down a bit of the work of one sub and redo it when it wasn't to his standard. All in all, a good experience. We will recommend and use John again.
John Csuhany of In The Minds Eye Contracting was excellent to work with. I was probably was one of his more difficult customers to work with. Yet, John was always courteous and did his best to do the work within my time limits. The workmanship was excellent and I would use TMEC again in the future without hesitation.
John did a wonderful job with my bathroom reno. He kept me informed of delays and if something did not seem right he contacted me right away to get my opinion. When I made changes to the original plans he was very accommidating, so when he was finished we were very happy with the results. If I need more work done I will call him first.
John Csuhany from In the Minds Eye Contracting organized and executed the completion of my basement during the latter part of January and early February. He was prompt and courteous with constructive feedback and adjustments to the plans I had set up. He really helped bring my vision into a reality. His crews were organized and respectful of the fact that we had two children at home under the age of 3, cautious to leave the main floor untouched and hallways free from obstruction. John stuck to the prices quoted on the contract and was very upfront about any changes and/or amendments that needed to be made based on changes made throughout the finishing process. He was concerned about client satisfaction throughout and continuous asked if there was anything we would like to change or anything that needed to be addressed. He was on time and diligent in ensuring that we got the basement we wanted. It looks great. I would recommend In the Minds Eye Contracting to anyone, especially those with busy young families who are concerned about the normal disruption caused by home renovation projects. Thanks again John.
