Steve refinished my concrete front steps. They started crumbling almost right away and are a mess! I called him and he would promise to come to fix them and never showed up. I called many times with many promises from him to come and fix them but he never showed. Finally, he stopped answering my calls or blocked my number as he would not answer when I called from my line, but if I called from a different line, he would pick up and again, promise to come and never show up.
DO NOT HIRE.
Steve is a scam artist. He is a man on the run. He is running from his clients. He is running from his past landlords. He is running with any deposit he can get. He is desperate and he is on the run.
He will show for a day of work to seem legitimate, but he does not seem to know anything about construction or concrete. The concrete posts he poured for our porch fell over the next day. It seems he forgot to add water or mix things as the sonotubes were full of powder. That was the last we saw of Steve and our money. Then he stopped picking up the phone.
Take my and everyone else’s advice: STAY FAR AWAY from this “company” - it’s all a well-oiled, elaborate scam!
Do not hire.
Pro Concrete was hired to waterproof my parents basement. He hit the main water line after being told where it was, then assured them he fixed it. He didn’t and it caused an underground leak that reflooded the basement he was paid to fix.
When we tried to get a hold of him he threatened not to come back if anyone else touched his work. He never came back anyways. He will take your money and run. Ended up costing thousands in emergency work to get it fixed.
Don't trust this person
Steve took advance payment of $300 for doing the work and promptly came next day to dig up the front yard and side for making the walkway. He took $1000 for the material and promised to finish the work in couple of days. This was early November 2020 and in spite of so many reminders and requests, never turned up for finishing the job or refunded the money. Gave number of excuses. Many times he promised to refund the money in two days, but never did.
He did not even clean up the area after digging up.
He never picks up the phone or reply to your messages now.
Total scam Steve is. Says he will provide the necessary information for the city rebate for the sump pump and after install he sent numerous license numbers that do not align with the City MLS numbers. After continuously asking for a week now he has blocked my phone number and social media connection so that he cannot be contacted.
Sad that he would scam us out of money that doesn’t affect him whatsoever. Clearly he does not hold the license. DO NOT HIRE Steve or his company.
DO NOT HIRE!!!!!
We initially had this company come in because we noticed some water pooling around one of the support posts in the basement. Hired this company to do interior waterproofing in my basement that he said would solve our problem of hydrostatic pressure under the house and stop the leak at the support post. We negotiated and agreed on a price and paid in full in stages. job was done but we called him back because we noticed a) the leak was still there and b) there was no water draining into the sump pump they installed to drain the water. He came back...dug up a corner and put camera in to see water still pooled at the other side of the house. He was going to come back one day to fix...texted me and everything saying he would be there in 20 minutes and never showed. Left the big hole in my basement (please see attached picture) and the initial leak still there. Also ripped apart some drywall from another room saying water was coming from there and it was not. Another mess to clean up. Do not hire Steve Martel. Shady.
Steve is a scammer!!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. You will be very sorry u did. I am not sure why i did'nt find this page before hand to read the reviews. Seems he has had to branch out to new territory.
We had a very specific request, needing window wells dug out 1 metre from the outside of the basement windows for fire code. Steve decided that 33 was good enough and it should pass because that is what he does all the time etc. Story after story after story. We insisted we need it to be 1 metre. Payed a big time price for custom wells and everything. Months of chasing him to come back to dig the wells the size we asked him to. Excuse after excuse after excuse, ya i will be there, no show, i will be there, no show. This guy was all over the place. I will refund u so u can get it fixed by someone else, oh but i don't have the money to refund u, then why offer? I will be there, no i won't be there, seriously there is something wrong with this man and he clearly gives everyone the same story. Unfortunately we are trusting people and my husband payed him the balance before he finished the job. Clearly my husbands wrong doing. Apparently u can't trust someone who calls themself a professional! He is obviously a self proclaimed professional, because professional is not even close to what Steve is. He is a scam artist and that is it. See u in court Steve. Luckily i have most of our conversations in writing! He likes to call. Obviously so there is no trail of what he says. I have more then enough in writing to condem this man! NO ONE GIVE THIS GUY A DIME OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!!!!! BUYER BEWARE!
Steve took a $1000 deposit for a job and weeks later told me he couldn't get it done. I have had multiple texts from him over the past few months promising to return my deposit money either by e-transfer or delivering it in cash. He has phoned and made excuses; he made three appointments and left me waiting when he didn't show up. He knows I am disabled on a pension and this money is a month's income for me. Christmas is less than a month away and this man has taken my entire savings.
I originally posted a 5 star review. Thought we had a great concrete pad poured. WAS I EVER WRONG! Within the year it had a crack all the way through it. Was told by Steve it’s concrete, it’s going to crack. Well my driveway, garage floor, and walkway and huge patio is all concrete and there are hardly any cracks in it. We moved in 5 years ago and it was already here. Have never had an issue.
The concrete that Steve and his team did cracked within 6 months. It is so rough you can’t walk on it.
He promised to come and grind it down but has given me the run around for 3 months. Keeps saying he’s coming but then never shows up. I don’t know how many days I’ve sat at home waiting for him to show up when he says he will but never does.
There’s a huge bump in it that my 2 year old had tripped over and hurt his leg.
He told me he kicked the concrete step when it was wet and put a huge dent in it, promised to fix it...still waiting. Why not fix it the day you kicked it when it was wet???
The biggest one though is he built it ABOVE our patio door with a gap in between the door and pad. Guess what...Steve told me it WILL FLOOD MY BASEMENT. He knew that so why did he do it that way??? No idea. I’ve already had 1 flood in my basement, I really don’t want another one. He’s promised (yet again) to fix it by putting in a French drain, still waiting! He asked if I wanted the form kept in. Why would I want that? Oh, right, because without it our basement will flood!
They were supposed to bring in a digger to dig up flagstone where the pad was to be. The digger was stuck in the mud so they did it by hand. Anyone would know you should have dug it enough so the pad would have been level with the basement door. It above it. Now the excuse was he didn’t want to damage my grass.
Then he tells me it will crack without putting the lines in it. So why Weren’t they put in???
How am I supposed to know all of these problems would happen when I’m not a concrete expert.
AVOID THIS GUY AND THIS COMPANY.
STEVE...if you finally fulfil your promises of fixing what you said you would, then I will remove this. I have tried for 3 Months to get you back to fix this and you read my messages and ignore me or tell me to text you next week to remind you. I shouldn’t even have to REMIND you to do a job in the first place. I shouldn’t have to leave work early to meet you and then you not show up. I know, it was too hot for you to work. It was 28 degrees but it’s been like that ALL SUMMER.
if anyone wants to come and see the crap we paid so much for just message.
I can’t even open my screen door because there’s concrete stuck to it.
There’s concrete in my gardens.
STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS GUY AS YOU CAN.
The project was completed over 2 years ago and now it a problem was told when. Pouring pad need french drain at time for additional cost and they didn't want to do now they want for free as for the spot on stairs we fixed it and for the hair line crack it where joint to existing pool concrete deck this joke 2 years after the fact you want work for free
This Steve is a joke. Hired to do a concrete job of driveway curbs then added a walkway and porch. The curbs were crooked and very uneven. The finish on then horrible and unprofessional. Work never call this company again. Took them way too long to do anything. I paid him off to get him out of here. Hired another company to remove and cut out his mess. Pictures of Steve on the job at request. Steve likes to say he doesn’t know you or the work. I have mound of proof of him working here with him in pictures.up on request will email them to you. Cont. Jen.rovers@icloud.com @ Do not hire this guy. He didn’t even clean up his mess on my property or property beside us had to hire another crew for that. Thankfully I have a crew coming today to give me my new driveway 8 months later. What a joke Steve is.
