Provincial Hydro Vac

The guy who runs this business is not only a shady businessman,but a really sleazy guy period. He doesn't answer his business phone. He can seem polite and respectful when you first deal with him,but eventually you begin to realize something isn't right with this guy and he can't hide his indescretions well.

Beware of this company as these guys lack basic carpentry skills; save your money and go to more reliable contractors. Dave Poole who is apparently the president of the this company is a fraud. Read other reviews too; they don't show up for work; leave incomplete projects; total lack of professionalism.

I got a quote for 6500. Aafter additions of 2750 in extras, it grew to over 19,500 and kept growing from there the longer they stayed. After 4 weeks they aren't close to half finished and say the bill is over 12k.

As a further not, they don't answer calls, their voicemail is full, etc. From what I've seen, they've changed their company name a few times. Provincial Hydro Excavating, Provincial Hydro Vac, etc. They also keep their last names from getting out their.

On the plus side, from what I've seen, the work done was done well.

We were given an original quote by someone in this company and both Dave (who was apparently the boss) and Don (who later told us he was "new" to the company) came to verify the work. Then they told us there was extra work to the tune of 300% more than the original quote AFTER they started the work. A woman from their office would show up unannounced to demand payment and when we asked for a bill she deferred us to someone else in the company so we never received one. After we asked for a bill again the second time she came around for more money, the people working on our house were told to not show up for work the next day.

We still did not get a bill and nobody notified us they were not showing up. We tried calling the company many times that day and not only did they not answer their work number, it said their mailbox was full. Later in the afternoon the person who gave the original quote did come by (still no phone communication) and we told him that it was a lack of professionalism to stop work when all we did is ask for a bill for what we were paying for. Later that day "Don" came by and said he was new to the company and had no idea what was going on but was sent to rectify the situation.

Basically what I can say is do not trust them. We figure now this is the game they play to start off with a small quote and keep skyrocketing the price with no backup. Make sure you have everything in writing and don't believe for a minute that everyone you talk to is "new" to the company as they claim.
