Work was not completed and we ended up firing this contractor. He continuously asked for money in advance to purchase materials for our home and pay sub conttactorrs. Materials were not purchased or supplied. This contractor hired sub contractors which he partially paid and we later found out from these sub contractors he hired the reason he did not pay them in full was that we as customers did not pay him which was in true. We met with both sub contractors and provided proof of payment directly to Dave for their portion of this job plus additional. Both sub contractors returned and gladly completed the work for us. This was a very negative experience overall. I would not recommend to hire.
MARCH 10, 2018 Just reviewed the email response Trusted Pros shared from this contractor. It is very unfortunate to see the lack of accountability and dishonesty in this response. We have substantial documentation of proof to our comments including from the electrical contractor confirming they were not paid by Dave and confirmation of money we advanced for supplies which were never purchased and sub contractors that were not paid fully. Take ownership and have intergrity with responses or we may just proceed with legal action.
Brian and Dina
Dear Dina & Brian,
You hired me off Kijiji in 2016 to finish the new tile flooring on your main floor and stairwells as your original contractor walked off the job. I supplied, installed and completed new baseboards and painted your entire main floor. Plus fixed your skylight. You were so happy and impressed how quick I came to your rescue. You loved my workmanship so much that you insisted I finish your basement. The following year you hired me to complete your basement. I even hired your son Mike as you asked to be my labour guy.
A deposit and one progress payment was made for the demolition, rough in and drywall. Mike and I completed the entire demolition. I paid Mike. Dumping was paid and I have receipts. I had my licensed electricians come in to completely rewire your entire basement with 33 new pot lights, new switches, new plugs, a new led pot light in your bathroom, and a new plug into your cold storage room for the relocation of your freezer. I paid my electricians $2500.00 to complete the rough in. You then went behind my back one day while I was picking up materials and had my electricians fix on the main floor; the GFI line for the faulty plug behind your fridge, install new wiring for new pot lights and had them fix two wall plugs and the ceiling fixture above your sink in your kitchen. All this extra electrical work on the main floor was not in the original contract. I brought this to your attention on my return and said you had to pay them immediately, which you did.
I had my licensed gas fitter come on site and install a gas line from your furnace room to the other side of your house. I paid the gas fitter $1000.00.
Once the electrical rough in and gas line was completed I purchased all of the drywall, screws, mud and tape and I personally delivered them on site. I hired two of my pro boarders plus Mike and I to install all of the drywall which we completed. I paid my pro boarders $30 hr in full after every day and I paid Mike. Mike and I then completed all the mud and tape in your basement. I paid Mike in full.
I went to Home Depot, bought and delivered the new basement door you personally picked out and had set aside for me to buy. Mike and I removed your old basement door and I custom cut the concrete to fit the new door.
The deposit and first progress payment covered all of the materials I purchased and delivered including Mike s labour my trades and I.
Unfortunately, as you know I received a call from my surgeon at Toronto General Hospital stating I had 2 days to get ready for surgery. This was a medical emergency as it would of been terminal if I didn t go in at that specific time. I spent a week in hospital after my surgery and 3 days at home before coming back on site which was against my doctors orders but I did. You were furious about my condition and the time I had to spend away from your project. You didn t believe me and when I arrived at your house I had to show you the 8 inch wound on my neck where they opened me up during surgery. I then asked you for the second progress payment to pay for the electrical fixtures, flooring, new kitchen etc. You declined to make that progress payment so I gathered up my tools and cleaned the site. I stated once you make the second progress payment I will come back and finish as per our contract. I got the impression that now you know my electricians and your son wasn t working that you were going to accept me walking away for non payment and take it on yourself.
Never in my life have I taken payment for materials and labour and not delivered or paid my guys. I have all receipts for your job.
Sorry for any inconvenience my surgery may have caused you but my health comes first as I love life and want to live. I am very passionate about my love for detailed custom construction and your main floor shows that as you had no problem hiring me again.
Your review is absolutely misleading and fake.
