My mother's condo experienced a sudden failure from one of the breakers in her electrical panel. The breaker switched off when it was overloading by two many appliances and lights drawing power at the same time. After researching electricians in and around London, I came across TrustedPros and chose Rheo Electrical.
The electrician dispatched to the apartment wasn't able to reset the breaker. During his 40 minute visit, he struggled to reset the breaker, investigated the source of the issue to no avail (he was convinced the culprit was a lighting fixture) and refused to listen to what we were describing as the potential source of the issue. A faulty breaker carrying too great a load.
After 30 minutes, he declared that he had to rush off to pick up his 16 and 18 year old children from school. Before exiting, he took the time to stand on the stove (he could have cracked the stove top glass) to investigate an outlet located above. He declared there was no power going to it (of course not, since the breaker was off at the time), and then rushed off.
He mentioned that he would return the next morning to take down the new lighting fixture. The whole time in the apartment, he kept repeating that if he couldn't find the problem, it would cost us hundreds and hundreds of dollars to fix it.
Suffice it to say that I cancelled his return visit that same evening. I didn't report him to his supervisor. I simply said that we managed to fix the issue ourselves. I was charged by Rheo for 1 and fifteen minutes of time $150 when in fact, his electrician couldn't even reset a breaker that we soon after his departure, managed to reset.
I would not recommend this company to anyone. They clearly overcharge at will.
In response to the company's questions 1, 2 and 4, my mother (a senior) was the only person present. I was on the phone as the electrician was there. We needed an electrician to look at the panel because she was without power in half of the apartment for 2 days and no one seemed able to reset the breaker. I live in another city. His attempt to review the microwave and receptacle were at the end of the visit.
We wanted to find an electrician that could restore power to the whole apartment. With many attempts while I coached her on the phone, my mother was able to finally reset the breaker, but the power didn't return. the next day I called another electrician who replaced the breaker.
Most importantly in this whole experience, I followed the ratings and reviews posted to TrustedPros as a guide in choosing an electrician to fix the problem. Money isn't the issue. The lack of professionalism and quality of the electrician that was dispatched was not what we expect for the rate. Plus, he failed to restore power to the apartment. As a result, I can't recommend your company. That's business.
1) If it was so easy for you to reset the breaker after we left, why did you need to call an electrician in the first place? Why not just reset the breaker an be done with it?
2) If you knew there was "too great a load" on the breaker, why did you call for an electrician? Why not reduce the load by moving appliances, or lamps or the TV to another circuit?
3) "Too great a load" does not mean the breaker is faulty. It means the breaker is doing its job and tripping so as to prevent a fire.
4) As for the receptacle above the stove. Do you think it might have been possible that he was checking for power to see what exactly was on the circuit?
5) I do agree he should not have climbed onto the stove. You should have reported it.
Just competed the install of 35 pot lights at our home on 99 Edgevalley road. Justin and Jake did an excellent job!
Their service was professional and courteous. Would definitely recommend this company. I would definitely ask for Justin and Jake to handle any future work.
Allan, Justin and the team at RHEO are hardworking, professional and attentive to detail. We completed a 12 month renovation of a 130 year old building for a commercial use. RHEO took care of all the electrical needs, which included a new 200 amp service, new wiring and accommodating existing wiring. They were also helpful in making suggestions and improvements where needed. I would not hesitate to use them again and highly recommend them.
Allan was hired by our contractor as a sub trade to complete all the wiring for our main floor & kitchen renovation. He was always friendly, professional, and courteous. He worked quietly and always left his workspace tidy at the end of the day. We liked Allan so much that we hired him again to complete another job this past summer. His prices were fair and he completed the work within his stated timeframes. Allan is a great guy to work with; very down to earth and knows his stuff. We've had no issues with any of his work and would not hesitate to recommend him to others!
Recently due to home electrical outlet upgrades my smoke detectors stopped working. No matter what we did, we couldn’t figure out what happened. We called RHEO to come to our home to fix the problem. The found the issue, and fixed it quickly and was very helpful in getting the job done. They were professional and courteous during the progress of fixing the problem. They took our problem as seriously as we did. Their prices were reasonable and done in a timely manner. My husband and I couldn’t be happier with the service they provided.
Thank you,
Rob and Sue Chappell
