We purchased a $6000 wine rack and $1000 wine cooler from this company. We paid an additional $1500 for install as our builder is not familiar with these products. At first, everything was very smooth and they treated us very well. When it came to installation, our builder was communicating with Rosehill to coordinate the cutouts/setup necessary to have the cooler installed into the glass enclosure that would be the wine cellar. They gave us all the dimensions and told us it was drainless. Now, they are saying the cutout in the glass is all wrong, there needs to be a drain line, and that the only way to install the cooler would be to remove the glass pane and to replace it with drywall...an obviously unrealistic solution. They are now saying that they are not responsible for anything and are abandoning the situation by listing various excuses on why they should not be responsible. We are left with a $5000 glass enclosure with a huge hole in it.
It's a shame to see the difference in how you can be treated when you are tendering a $8000+ project versus how you are treated after the business makes the sale.
Bill,
We are very sorry that you have felt the need to go to Social Media to air your grievances. I m sorry that you feel as though you received incorrect information from us.
Firstly, we have no idea who your builder is and have no correspondence nor recollection of speaking with anyone regarding your project except for you.
Dan sent you 55 emails from May 31, 2019 running through to end of August regarding the project. Only a small handful of emails relate to the cooling unit while the vast majority relate to the racking design and install of racking. None of the through the wall cooling units are drainless, no one here would have told you that.
June 3,2019, we had recommended a ceiling mount split system and expressed concern about the KoolR and it would be pushed to its capacity in a cellar your size. At the beginning of your project, any of the cooling unit recommendations were based on the image you sent of back two walls being drywall. Initially, there was no mention of installing cooling unit on glass.
July 23, 2019 - Dan did send you an image of the cooling unit installed in glass that he found on the internet but the opening was cut lower down from the ceiling so the unit could fit in; and he also indicated I would suggest some kind of brace or bracket, they are not designed to go into straight glass There was never any indication of our creating a bracket or what could be used as a support system for the KoolR.
July 30, 2019 - You requested KoolR to be delivered as: Our glass guys want to have it to figure out how they will mount it to the glass. The KoolR was delivered on July 31st via UPS.
Our doing the installation of the racking was not finalized until after you received the racks and preferred for us to assemble. Install of the cooling unit was never explicitly discussed when quoting on racking install. However, install of a through the wall cooling unit is merely a matter of sliding the cooling unit in a hole once all the wall prep/electrical/drain lines have been completed. Not sure why you/your builder/your glass guy would cut a hole in a glass wall for a 38 lbs cooling unit without thinking how it was going to be supported?
Solutions include building a 2x4 stud wall with the correct opening size and the unit will slide in as per manufacturers specifications. Or possibly a 2x4 wall that hangs down from the ceiling that holds the cooling unit with the glass panel below/adjacent. You could also make some kind of custom metal brace. The plug for the cooling unit is needed on this wall also and a place for the condensate drain is also required, however, some people will just put the condensate line into an empty bottle and monitor.
So, we aren t abandoning you, as you indicated, but we feel as though you are blaming us unnecessarily. If you have an opening prepared as per manufacturers specifications, then we can slide the cooling unit in place, free of charge.
