Took deposit and never did the job!!!!

This company doesn't stand by their work. When an issue happened with their work and there was a defective part, Randy pretty much wanted more money to fix. As well, first fix was done in the cheapest messy way possible. Billing was vague as well. Would never recommend this company to an enemy.

We hired Jay and Randy to make custom wall to wall cabinets for a family room entertainment unit. Also hired them to drywall and tape the family room ceiling. Throughout the process of dealing with SDS the initial plan was great, ideas were wonderful. Jay talked a pretty big talk, however the finished result was different. 4 months after the job was completed, all of the drywall tape seams are showing. You can see many imperfections in the tape job, when natural light is cast on the ceiling it looks horrible. If i wanted it to look like that i would have done it myself, hence why I hired them to get it done because they are "professionals". When the cabinets showed up, they were made from mdf and not even painted. Suddenly the responsibility of painting the inside and outside of the cabinets became ours. Once they were installed, we found many cases where too long of a screw was used resulting in damage to the other cabinets. Overall, it was a long drawn out process working with SDS, Jay was always available to communicate with, however it was alot of false promises....Keep an eye on these guys to make sure things are ok quality wise. If I were to re-do it again, I would chose a different contractor.

We hired Jason to do a project on our front step. When he originally met with us, he said he could get the job done in one week, and he gloated about how he has a sterling reputation and that he does great work. He was actually recommended to us by a family member of his, so we took his word for it. Boy were we WRONG!

He talked a good game, took a deposit, and it took forever for him to actually do the work. From beginning to end, it took over a month to get the steps put in in front of our house, and the work was TERRIBLE. The steps were put in crooked, the brick work and masonry was so awful...he actually made the problem worse.

Worse than the work was the "service". Jason is EXTREMELY RUDE and insulting. We had to basically harass him just to get the work done because every day that he "promised" he would show up, he would have a new excuse as to why he couldn't make it. He claimed that the company that manufactured the pre cast steps didn't have our steps, or that their truck broke down, etc. When we took it upon ourselves to investigate the situation, they hadn't even heard from him!

We gave him a deadline after waiting forever (and he already had been paid in full). He showed up at night with the steps on the last day, and tried to make us feel bad for him and his two guys having to hand move the steps themselves because HE had procrastinated.

Whenever there was a phone conversation and he felt annoyed or whatever, he would lash out and swear and try to make us feel like we were in the wrong when we were the paying client. Even when he was here doing the work, he was swearing and being rude and making inappropriate comments.

He was late for absolutely everything except for picking up deposits or any sort of payment. We spent more time waiting for this man to show up than he actually spent working.

Jason Chettle is a con artist, and he does awful work. If you call him out on it, he will threaten you as he did us. DO NOT HIRE SDS RENOVATIONS. YOU WILL LIVE TO REGRET IT. I will never, ever recommend him to anyone. Ever.

Incompetent, Deceitful and Arrogant - these are three words that come to mind when I hear the name SDS (Sameday Service) and Jason Chettle. We hired SDS (Sameday Service) for three projects, waterproofing the basement, replacing the siding, and some minor renovations to the master bedroom. The ‘customer service’ that we received from SDS (Sameday Service) was nowhere near professional and the quality of work was less than mediocre. They covered up one of our roughed-in bathroom drains in the basement; they decided not to remove the stairs in the basement when doing the weeping tile in that section, so the basement leaks in that spot; they suggested not putting insulation behind the siding because they knew we were moving; they left a huge mess of garbage in my driveway for over a week, and only removed it when the neighbours complained; they pieced together door trim because their cuts were not measured accurately; they attached a 6-foot rod in the closet using drywall plugs, which resulted in a bloody nose and bruised hand to myself. The house was not cleaned up at the end of the workdays nor did they cover any of our furniture; we had to cover our belongings ourselves. The fact that SDS calls themselves Sameday Service is ludicrous, what should have taken 4 days took over 4 weeks and it was left unfinished. Jason Chettle continuously said they would be at my house at specific times, or they were ‘just around the corner’ or ‘be right back’, and then never showed up or returned, they constantly promised timely results and never delivered. The quote provided was misleading and the attitude we received from Jason Chettle when asking questions was inexcusable, we constantly gave him money outside of the agreed-upon payment schedule and when we asked why we were forwarding money he punished us by not returning to work on the house for three days. Jason Chettle begged us for ½ of the final payment ahead of time so he could go celebrate his birthday, and then never returned to finish any of the work. The siding was not completed and the basement was left leaking, SDS (Sameday Service) did not stand behind their warranty and forced us to hire legitimate contractors to complete the job. Do not hire SDS (Sameday Service) owned by Jason Chettle and Melissa Chettle, they are unethical and hold you hostage once they receive any money from you.

They took us for over $ 3,000.

I freely admit that we were marks. We were new at this and had a rental property that needed immediate repairs. Good stonemasons are hard to find on short notice. Jason claimed to have one available. After over two months of waiting, we never laid eyes on the guy.

Meantime,our deck,porch,pillars and columns had been wrecked,and shoddily "rebuilt".

The porch was propped on shaky two-by-fours that caused the roof to tilt and were a safety hazard.

The deck,which we contracted to be cedar,was mostly cheap pressed lumber,and second-grade at that,cracked,damaged and chipped.Skirting was missing.The steps were ugly,chipped and cracked,and were not even built to code (stairs not wide enough), so they need complete replacement. Sidewalk they put in was crumbling, footprinted and pockmarked.

This was the job from hell.

And we PAID them.Not for all,but for a good chunk of it.You never think it will happen to you.

Here,I'll bend over.Now kick me,good and hard.

Through all of this,Jason was pretty much unreachable,either by phone or e-mail.

When we did got hold of him,he never had more than thirty seconds to talk,was perpetually angry, foul-mouthed and annoyed ("fast, friendly service",LOL !),and always implied,or told us,that he had somewhere more important to be right now,but that he would be back in touch,soon,soon,soon.

And then the excuses: he was out of town, he had pneumonia, the weather was bad, he had thrown his back out, on and on.

It took us a while to realize what the scam was. Basically: extract as much money as possible,as quickly as possible,and then pull a vanishing act when the heat starts to get turned up.

When I finally started to demand a date when the work would be done,a plan,or even a time we could MEET to talk about it (and of course he still had a $ 2000 deposit from us for unfinished work),he told me angrily that I had no business leaving so many messages.

Again he promised to meet soon,soon,soon. Again he didn't show up,or respond to e-mails. His voice mailbox was full.I e-mailed to let him know that I would be coming out to his office address to get some answers.It was getting toward winter and soon it might be impossible to do the stonemasonry work,it had been over two months,and our insurance company was threatening to cancel our policy if needed repairs were not done asap.

When I finally got him face-to-face,I was told:

(a) I would not be getting a refund.

(b) He would finish the job, but couldn't tell me when

(c) He would call me in an hour,and

(d) If I ever came onto his property again,he would throw me off.

Lovely customer service.

Stay far away.

They did a wonderful job. When I met Jayson he was a very kind man and his quote was very reasonable. The job was fabulous and I would recommend his work. I would also like to thank Kris,John,and Chad. I will be hiring you again and I really appriecate your work.

Jason, Chad and Dan did an amazing job on our house recently....top notch brick work by Dan, followed up by quick and efficient framing and installing by Chad &Jason...they transformed a plain old bedroom window into a beautiful patio door allowing us to admire our garden.....stayed late one day and finished the project the next....clean up on site was immaculate...and a very friendly crew...thanks again on a job well-done!

I had Jason's crew do some masonry work for me this past week. The crew were great people, showed up on time and did the job as required. Every night the site was cleaned and tidy. Jason, Chad Jay and Eddie made the repairs hassle free and did a great job. I will definately call them again for future work.

Got a good price. Work started on time. Great staff, honest upfront people. Everything was done as promised, the site was cleaned up every night and the guys were always on time. Hassle free repairs, apparently it is still possible! Thanks to Jason, Jay, Chad and Eddie.
