I hired John to rebuild a brick wall at my house and he did an amazing job! Very reliable, professional and easy to work with. He didn't charge any extras despite a few last minute changes and the price was very reasonable.
Would recommend to anyone else and would definitely hire him again!
We hired John Fintikakis last summer to repoint the brick on the outside of our house (built in 1930) as well as resurface the cement on lower part of the outside walls. We were initially planning to just do two sides of the house but were so pleased with the work we ended up hiring him to do the entire outside of the house and adjoining garage, as well as change some cement window sills and realign our chimney which had a slight buckle. The workers started on the date promised and were there basically every weekday and some weekend days (weather permitting) once they started until the work was complete. John also came by to review the work being done at least once and day and was otherwise always quick to respond if I send him a text or left him a message. John said when we first met him that he may not be the cheapest contractor in the market, but we got quotes from several contractors and his price was as competitive as or better than the other quotes we received. Moreover, the price we agreed to was the price we paid. You hear so many stories from people who’ve had horrible experiences with contractors (including outright theft), but I can say we were completely happy with having hired John and his team—does what he says, quality work, on time and at the price agreed to. We will be hiring him this summer to do some landscaping work in our yard.
I cannot say enough good things about John and his staff. I had a dryer pipe that burst through my walls, at first I started with another contractor who basically ripped me off, he did a fast patch up job, took him 4 days to do and was very expensive! THANKFULLY I found John and his team before closing my walls back up. As soon as I called him, he came right away, He saw the job and was so honest and knowledgeable that he basically told me "there is no way you should close your walls like this, or the same problem will happen again." He knew EXACTLY what to do, he offered great advise, finished the job in half of the time and charged half the price.
He not only removed my whole pipe and moved it away from the air conditioner, he then completed the job seamlessly! He put back the gyprock, plastered and re-painted. The job was done in great time, clean and meticulous.
I have to say he is probably the most honest and fair contractor you will ever come across! I am extremely happy with the work and would highly recommend Service Superior.
P.S I then had him do some gutter repairs outside, he did it in a timely manner, great quality of work, and extremely hard working! Overall, am very happy with his work and will definitely use him again!!
John and his staff did a wonderful job with our deck. He spoke with us about what we wanted and created a plan to accommodate our existing frame. Although this presented challenges along the way, John and his team worked quickly and efficiently to create a beautiful deck. John communicated throughout the process, informing us when small changes had to be made. He was on site at the beginning of every day to make sure the work was on track. The price was a little more than the quote, but only because he discovered some surprises along the way. I am very happy with our new deck and highly recommend Service Superior.
Summary: avoid.
This was (project is, after 4 months unfinished) possibly one of the poorer choices we've made.
Ultimately everything that could have gone wrong did; tile wall? It had to be redone 3 times before it was borderline "acceptable." There was humming an hawing at the first, terribly botched version. While eventually the contractor acquiesced, he tried to blame the visible imperfections on the colour of the grout - something we had been upfront about - and was indeed written in the contract, from the start. On the second attempt these words were uttered to me: "why didn't you tell the tile guy he was doing the wrong spacing?" Perhaps because I don't know or do anything related to tiles. The grout shows poor craftsmanship - it doesn't cause it.
It is this level of ridiculousness that has gone on.
In floor heating? Heating system damaged during tile install. The problem was noticed a month ago - it has not been remedied. (Update: the floor is so badly damaged it must be destroyed in a "guess work" fashion to find the issue.)
Kitchen counters and sink were damaged during the tile wall fiasco because they were not protected. Kitchen sink (brand new) was used as a dumping ground by the tradesmen. Both the company that supplied the counter and the company that installed it were in disbelief. Verdict: Trade Damage.
Electrical install for microwave and door bell were buried in the walls out of carelessness and lack of oversight.
We argued over the install of the dishwasher because it was clearly not installed properly. Additionally it was damaged. I had to install it myself with the help of the electrician. The contractor never admitted his mistake.
Tradesmen were clearly being asked to do jobs they were not skilled for and the crew was inconsistent. Some of the tradesman have other jobs so the only conclusion we could come to was that some of the specialized work (electrical, tiles) was being done as side-gigs meaning scheduling and predictability was hard.
We found grout caked to the walls of a room they were not working in.
I could go on - but I will stop.
Ultimately, this contractor is unable to manage some jobs - regularly asking us to take care of some aspects that were not our responsibility as well as oversee some work (isn't that his exact job description) and has a lot of difficulty staying organized. Damaged floor, and counters, no repairs in sight, it's really hard to understand how botched it really is and it's now nearing December with no heating in the kitchen - not to mention no working kitchen to begin with.
Furthermore - this review bothered him more than his poor craftsmanship and no attempt to remedy the situation was made.
His references were good - but even if there's a small chance this could happen to you - please stay away. It's not worth the hassle.
Update (Dec. 15): The ceiling paint started falling off in chunks today. My partner is in tears; this comedy just doesn't seem to end.
Update (Aug. 2018): It is now less than a year since this job has occurred and at least three of the floor tiles on the kitchen are loose, with lots of creaking on others. The gift that just keeps on giving.

I found John on this website. I phoned him and he came to look at the job on the same day. He quoted me on the spot. His price was very fair. He started three days later and had the job done exactly when quoted. He came in right on budget. I'm very happy with the job that he did. Please see attached before and after pictures.
Mr. John and his team did great work. They went beyond the call of duty fixing surprises as each layer of my old shower came off (e.g. mold, no valves in place, rotten wood)
Mr. John's rates are fair and his no hassle approch very appreciated.
His team were very respectful of my home, cleaning up after themselves and protecting my belongings. They were friendly and polite.
I have already recommended him to family members and we will certainly not hesitate to use him for future projects.
We love our new shower.
