Have used this company for several seasons and they did a great job of bringing our lawn back to life from a weedy mess in just one season. This season (2016) we confirmed our renewal by email with Mike in March. By early May everyone around us had cut their lawn but we had not received any service.
Last week they came out and cut & fertilized. 6 days later we received an email saying they were going out of business asap. Received a bill for services the previous week.
We're looking for a new service. We were happy with the service. They were regular and consistent, and polite. I downgraded them on quality and communication for the following reasons:
1) The only issue we had is that their standup machine doesn't really fit down one side of our house, so there is some new damage to a fencepost and a few boards where it seems that the mower or weedwhacker chewed the wood up.
2) We would definitely have preferred more notice about the cancellation. We confirmed well in advance of the season, so we feel we'll have difficulty getting service this year, along with their other abandoned customers.
Whatever the reason, we wish them well in their future, whatever it may be.
The son of a gun team is meticulous and thorough. Always schedules work before showing up and takes pride in their profession. Grass looks great year round! I dont ever consider anyone perfect, but they are what i would expect for lawn maintenance. I have been using them for 4 years.
I hired Son of Gun for the second year and was definitely unsatisfied this past season.
I walk my dog every morning around my neighbourhood and found other snow removal services come and gone but not mine until well past noon. When only inquiring about poor service compared to last year, I was confronted with defensiveness and excuses.
My employer also hired Son of a Gun and was very unhappy with their service. We had to call them and request a snow removal after all employees had parked their vehicles. Again, responses where hostile and defensive.
I'm not certain what happened with their service from one year to the next but I will not be referring or hiring this company again
What offends me most about Son of a Gun are their responses to inquires in regards to their service. My questions were mild and only asking why there's a difference in level of service. Response was "what do you want me to do?"
Do what I hired you to do???!!
Quick to communicate - slow to remove - points to contract that gives them 12 hours after end of snow to clear. See photos - sunny morning at 8:35am - storm finished 6:32am Other driveways cleared by other company and neighbor. We had to shovel to get out. This is not the only time. Last big snow they were by at 4:05pm.
Your leaving a negative review because we were not there 2 hours after it stopped snowing? We received close to 40 cm of snow, most logical people, including our 600 satisfied clients we service understand that everything gets delayed with that much snow. Jim we monitor everything that has to deal with snow including road conditions and city plows were well over 6 hours behind and this was from the city councillor we work closely with. If you can't get out of your driveway, and the roads have not been plowed, where exactly are you going! Did you leave a negative review with the city because your road wasn't plowed 2 hours after it stopped snowing? The city plows don't work under extreme weather conditions where lives and equipment are put at risk, neither do we, but we still services your drive within the terms of the contract you signed. If you don't like those terms then don't sign up for a service with those terms
As for a previous storm's timing of service, we have had several morning storms where it didn't stop snowing until 9 or 10 am, so yes you were cleared at 4 pm, which is six hours after we started, and I am more than confident that very few other companies have all their clients cleared within 6 hours; in fact I know first hand they don't. You must live on a street where all other companies start their routes. We monitor all our competition and there isn't any that provide any better service. Its just common sense that every company starts at a different location and finished in a different location; there is always a first client to get cleared and a last. Perhaps you should retain the services of that company that starts on your street, as we no longer wish to have you on our list. There are always 1 or 2 new clients that just don't get how snow removal works and have ridiculous expectations, we simply weed them out and focus on our 600 satisfied clients. Good by Jim
