These guys charged my senior mom $125 for the call, and then another $75 for telling her that the machine was garbage.
Bill came to $210 and she asked about her seniors discount. The guy said he added it, which was a lie.
The bill should have been $125 period.
On top of that he didn't put the machine back together and left it in pieces in my 84 year old mom's basement...she can't move it or pick up the screws off the floor.
Never ever will anyone I know use these people again...
Warning!!!! Stay away from this company!
We recently hired this company to repair our less than 3 year old dishwasher. We had had a similar problem in the past but the repair person we used then was not available this time. We had never had a bad experience with anyone we had hired previous to this. We trusted the Southside repairman (also owner of the company) and as it turns out we shouldn't have. I will not go into great detail. After paying the bill we were presented and doing some research after the fact we estimate we were over charged by a minimum of $700. plus he took our old dishwasher and we suspect after minimal repairs he will sell that machine to someone else. It was our fault for being so naïve and not doing our research prior to the hire. Had we known then what we know now we would not have had them in our home. I did contact them to see if they would rectify the overcharge but I was just give a song and dance without any satisfaction. Will be much less trusting the next time we need to hire someone. Very sad about this experience!
**Scammer** ** Fraud** **Avoid Any Service**
This man has scammed my elderly mother out of $1500, cash (he couldn't accept a cheque and his CC machine was broken). No Senior discount. Fake receipts. Lies and contacting him afterward has been terrible with aggression and more lies.
Mom was fearful of covid and did get a cheap fridge and also 5 holes in her walls and deep scratches on her kitchen floor.
We have called the police and will call the Better Business Bureau and the CRA. I am discussed that this man took advantage of a 76-year-old woman in need.
Would give 0 Stars if possible. I was told $85 to show up and analyze. This technician showed up to check my fridge, opened it up and did something to cause sparks. He swore up and down it was fine but said it needs a new mother board which would be $400....already losing trust in his workmanship due to the sparks I decided to get rid of him. He said the bill was $170....When I asked why not the $85 he originally said before showing up he said because he had to "clean the back" as it was dirty. Again, it was very uncomfortable dealing with this guy so it was easier to fork up the cash and get rid of him. He took the cheque and went on his way. The next morning the fridge was dead and the floor was covered in water....I called the bank and canclled the cheque (Thank goodness)....when I called to update him, he instantly started screaming like a lunatic and even with him being clearly in the wrong he still tried to tell me I need to pay him to come back and fix it....he has threatened to put a lean on my property.
This is a classic case of a crook dressed up as a contractor. NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY
I had Amir in to fix a dryer that I couldn't get working, and he had the entire thing pulled apart so fast it was scary. Identified the problem, returned with a part and had it fixed for less than $100. I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough. I've since used him again for a fridge, and he displayed the same level of skill and speed. I'm passing his card out at work.
This company does not care about price matching at all. Charged us $200 more than current pricing elsewhere at the time and the owner could care less. Exorbitant costs for installation delivery and removal. Skirts around the cost issue to begin with and does not provide proper billing information without having to be persistent. We were charged four hundred dollars for an install that took forty five minutes, along with delivery and disposal fees higher than most appliance stores. We initially called him for an appliance service and in twenty minutes were told the part required would be a high cost and not worth replacing. I wonder??? Owner is the service person I believe. Height of price gouging as far as we could tell from our after the fact research. Lesson learned.
I just had my fridge repaired by Southside Appliances.
He came out and provided no quote ahead of time for the repairs in order for us to see whether it was cheaper to buy a new fridge or repair it as it was 10 years old. He just started work on the fridge.
He said that there were two parts that needed replacing but also did suggest that the fridge may also need a new heater so my wife (who was home dealing with him) said "oh, then we will likely just buy a new fridge then."..........magically, the heater was now ok.
After repair, I looked up the parts for the fridge and I could buy them online for $100.00 and was charged $275.00.
For not doing research, I blame myself however if I save one person from not being overcharged, I'll sleep well tonight.
Poorest service provider that we have ever used.
We replaced our broken dishwasher with a brand new unit on the recommendation from Amir and had him install the unit in January of 2015 for around $900. Approximately one week after the installation the dishwasher started to rock back and forth and was not securely installed but we lived with it. Around February 2016 the dishwasher heater element quit working and the dishes did not dry properly. My wife called Amir back out to diagnose and repair the dishwasher. After arguing with my wife that he never installed this dishwasher he reluctantly tried to repair the heater. He informed my wife that we were costing him money because this job was taking him too long. My wife also noted to me that he was very rude and disrespectful towards to her. Well after getting a bill for $420 the dishwasher still does not dry the dishes. I called Amir back and he told me I should go through the warranty and not bother him. I tried to explain to him how frustrated I was but I couldn't get a word in because he kept cutting me off or interrupting me. I told him that I was going to go through the better business bureau and he said "go right ahead" and then hung up on me. I tried to look up Southside Appliances on the Better Business Bureau and surprise surprise they are not accredited. I highly recommend finding someone else that is much more professional. Worst service in the city. STAY CLEAR OF SOUTHSIDE APPLIANCES! I would give him 5/5 for Timeliness cause he knows how to get in and out quickly with your $$$. If there was a 0 score for Communication and Courteous he should still be rated below that.
