They were slow coming to install the product. One person came to install it and decided he didn't have time to do it and said he would be back the next week to do it. A second person came to do the installation but wouldn't come unless I paid him travel money. He came when I wasn't home and installed the dish in the wrong place, under a steep roof where the snow coming off would break the arm. When I called and told him he put it in a terrible location he told me he could come and move it in three months for free. I told him that wasn't good enough. When I complained to xplornet it began a long complicated 3 month process to try and have the issue resolved, they called today to tell me it would cost me $275.00 for me to fix their mistake. Not happening. The communication with this company has been incredibly frustrating and un-professional. I will not be dealing with them or xplornet in the future.
For anyone reading Kevin's review, his claim is absolutely as far from the truth as possible! Our first installer did not have the time on the first vists to complete what Mr. Kevin requested and Mr. Kevin had no issue with him returning at another time. The second tech who was covering for the first, contacted Kevin and agreed to complete the install on at a time when Kevin was working and would not be present. They thoroughly discussed the dish location with the contractor and notified him the customer's daughter would be on site the entire time during the installation. The contractor arrived to complete the install and the daughter would not allow him to install in the location Kevin suggested because of future construction. Another location was presented to the site contact, it was approved by her and the dish was installed professionally. The site contact signed the work order after the installation was complete authorizing the work that was completed. Kevin started contacting people at Xplornet Communications and our company stating we had needed to return to relocate it where he stipulated it to go. Even though this was told to the site contact during the installation, we were not allowed to install it where he wanted. He has claimed the installer stated he would return and relocate it for free, however the installer that was covering for the first lives 400k away from this region and has never had the discussion with Kevin that he would drive 800k return trip simply to move his dish. Kevin was offered a resolution that would come at a cost of De-Installing the first system and completely Re-Installing it in another location. Xplornet Communications refused Kevin's request to have a company return because the authorized signature was present on the sign off sheet after the installation. Xplornet was consulted before the service price was presented to Kevin and they agreed the price was fair for the scope of work to be completed. Kevin's claims are false and his issues relate to the person left in charge disallowing the contractor to complete the install as per requested. This is a classic case of throwing a service provider and a contracting company under the bus when a customer will not be present when work is completed and leaving a site contact in charge who has no authority to make decisions. This would have never happened had Kevin agreed to be home.
My initial contact with this outfit was fairly favorable due to the fact the problem was intermittent and naturally was difficult to diagnose properly, however, All the preliminary diagnosis procedures were done as per Shaw's tech people and the problem was determined to be a "line" problem. I have 2 receivers and only one was working (no Signal). Blair, the owner of Star-Tech insisted the problem was a tree obstructing the line of sight for a clear signal and would not accept any other solution. To make a long story short, another designated tech came in and diagnosed the problem to be a faulty connection somewhere between the dish and the affected receiver. The cables were replaced, the dish relocated and the problem solved. The tree is still where it always has been. If you encounter this individual for a complex concern with your satellite system RUN LIKE HELL and find someone else who will listen to reason. I have to wonder what his solution would have been if I had cut down a 30 year old tree and still had the existing problem?? Piss poor customer service, Shaw should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this individual to represent their valued customers. Never again!!
Star-Tech is contracted by Shaw and no other choice for service or repairs are available at this time.
