We are very happy with the high quality construction of the duplex Tom built for us. He carefully oversaw every detail of the construction process, and politely but firmly insisted on high standards of workmanship from everyone involved in the project. Even though the construction took place during the height of the pandemic, when construction costs were soaring, he did everything in his power to keep prices down.

I found Tom and his subcontractors respectful and easy to work with. When something went wrong, Tom was right on it: whether it was a repair or necessary change in design. As a matter of fact, Tom improved the design of one of the bathrooms as well as the laundry area. He listened to what I said I wanted and needed and incorporated that into the work.

I appreciated his frequent check ins and updates.

With one exception (which Tom dealt with right away), the quality of the renovations is superb.

We live in a 1970's townhouse. It has an ensuite bathroom, with a small shower that had leaky grout and plumbing when we moved in. So we never used it.

We decided to re-do the shower, with new tiled walls, new fixtures, and a new sliding glass door. Several contractors visited and gave us estimates. Some never responded with an estimate; we think the job was too small to interest them.

STK Renos – Tom Anderson – was highly recommended by a friend. He had good ideas, and good questions for us. He has experience in several trades, and could foresee some problems we hadn't thought of. His estimate was detailed, and about mid-pack. The contract he offered was “cost-plus” -- we accepted the risk of over-runs, and we'd know why they happened. We felt comfortable with him, and decided to hire him.

We did our homework, choosing tiles and shower fixtures and a custom-built sliding door. Some of those were from Tom's preferred suppliers, some were not.

Construction started with laying floor protection, and removing asbestos-contaminated waste. Tom works clean, with frequent garbage runs. All went as planned, more-or-less. His tiler suggested a change in tile layout, which we accepted. One minor mistake in plumbing installation was fixed. His glass supplier designed a leak-resistant frameless shower door, which works very well.

Everything is done, now. It all works, and it puts the rest of the house to shame. We'd happily use Tom's services again, and we've recommended STK Renovations to friends.

This was my first time working with Tom Anderson and I'm very happy with the results. My family was moving from an apartment to our first condo, and we wanted to have the work completed before we moved in and he was able to complete everything in a timely fashion.

The work was done quickly-within 3 days- and to a very high quality. He made certain to make himself available via email or telephone at all times to answer questions.

Also, Tom can also be trusted to work independently. My husband and I weren't always available to make timely decisions as to colour scheme or to make tile selection. We were able to tell Tom what we wanted and how we wanted it to look and made it happen. Our family is very happy with the results. Thank you STK Renovations.

Tom and his crew were very professional, prompt and inspired confidence during the entire renovation project. Trustworthy and competent. That is how I would describe him.
