We spent thousands of dollars in material and labour and Stone Works Canada made NO improvement to our property, in fact, it looks obviously worse. We hired SWC to repair and refurbish our pool deck flagstone, repair and rebuild sections of our retaining wall and build a new cedar deck. We gave Joseph, the owner, $6,500 upfront plus we bought/paid $5,000 in cedar. What a disaster! They tried building a wood deck without a miter saw...We made them take apart their attempt at a deck. Joseph said he has a team of 20 professional tradesmen who can complete the jobs simultaneously within a couple of weeks. Two months later, no job was completed and we were stuck with fixing all that they messed up. DO NOT HIRE this company. We hired a different company to build our new deck and paid several thousand dollars more in material and labour. Hoping to save people from experiencing the trauma we went through this past summer. Good luck!
Stone Works Canada installed new interlocking paving stones walkway and patio with natural stone steps at our house.
The crew that worked on our project were professional very careful and paid attention to every detail as well as keeping the site clean and tidy during the construction. The results are fantastic and we are very pleased with the work and price and recommended Stone Works Canada to our neighbors and some of our friends
We made the biggest mistake ever to hire Stoneworks Canada. Greg and Joseph Schurer are the biggest scam artists you'll ever have the misfortune to meet.
Their bad workmanship has cost us thousands of dollars to repair, and they have butchered our house. Other contractors that have since tried repairing what they have destroyed are shocked at the poor quality of work. Do not make the mistake of ever hiring them to do any job for you, you might as well throw your money away, because you will be stuck with nothing but empty promises from them, and a huge repair bill to try and fix all the damage. They should not be allowed to operate, do not be fooled by their website, it is all LIES!
We regret not doing more research on them, read the online reviews, no one has anything good to say!
We unfortunately hired Stoneworks Canada last summer to pressure wash, replace polymer sand and then seal our interlock stone driveway, patio and porch with the wet look. They did not bother to remove stains and there was a white film on some of the pavers after their work was completed, but assured us that when applying a second sealing coat, at our expense, these items would be corrected. We would then not have to reseal for at least five years. In October Stoneworks Canada returned to apply the second coat. A cool and windy day, leaves falling from the trees and the crew from the company showed up at 6:00 p.m., insisting there was still time do to the job that evening. There was no attempt to make the corrections or prepare anything. They just blew away the leaves as they were falling and proceeded to slap on the sealer. Most of the job was actually done in the dark, with the crew unable to see what they were doing. A few weeks later the colour started to fade completely, unsightly blotches began to appear, as well as black gung between the stones, apparently excess sealer. Joseph, the proprietor of Stoneworks Canada, promised to inspect and rectify the botched job in the spring of this year. We have emailed, phoned and even paid a visit to their headquarters, a residential apartment, all to no avail. Joseph started out rendering excuse after excuse about being too busy, then apparently decided to ignore the whole matter. We paid over $ 2,000 to have our interlock pavers protected and beautified and they ended up looking worse than before Stoneworks was hired. Stoneworks Canada is a shoddy, unprofessional company totally void of any standards or customer orientation, with more unresolved complaints outlined on this site and others, including the Better Business Bureau. Beware of hiring this company for any work at all, and don’t be fooled by their website!
I hired Stoneworks for the following:
- removal of existing asphalt and existing interlocking
- adding additional crushed stone to raise the driveway and the existing pathway to align with the garage so it is a seamless transition from the driveway to the pathway going to the main entrance of the house
- digging a minimum of 9 inches below ground
- digging and putting weeping tile from the spout away from the house
- digging up the current tiles to ensure that everything is raised at the level of the garage
- power washing the tiles
- adding epoxy jointing sand
- sealing the tiles/stones
- installing flagstone step and porch/landing with flagstone capping around the porch and steps
- painting the existing smaller step in the doorway to match the flagstone step and porch/landing
- you will order and coordinate all required materials and disposal bins to be delivered at my place prior to commencement of the work
- Interlocking bricks and flagstone will match the existing interlocking bricks
- getting all of the necessary permits, if applicable
2) The workmanship was to be guaranteed for 2 years from the date of installation. If there were any defects in materials, fabrication or installation, Stoneworks assured me that they will repair or replace the defect item with the same grade and quality of material as the original at no charge to me.
Unfortunately, my experience with Stoneworks has been contrary to what was promised. There was no communication on their part. I had to follow-up numerous times every step of the way. The worst was that the quality of work was unprofessional and not according to code and regulation. The driveway was not aligned properly, with some stones inverted and creating a valley. Not only was the work not done right, it was out of compliance. The height of the step of the porch was 11 inches whereas regulation states it should be no higher than 8. I had to call and complain about it. After a number of phone call, a worker was sent to fix the problem. However, rather than fixing the problem in accordance to safety standards, the contractor (foreman) told the worker to just remove 31/2 feet of stone and raise the height, thereby creating a ramp like grade. This is very dangerous and unsafe. i have already had someone fall down and hurt themselves. I called, emailed and left messages to have someone come back and fix the grading so that the slope is gradual. I recommended that the grade be 1 inch for every 4 feet so that the 3 inches of difference in height be accommodated by removing 12 feet of walkway and gradually sloping away from the porch. To date, I have not received any confirmation if the problem will be corrected by them or not except one email stating that everything has been done as agreed which is a total and utter lie. I would strongly urge people not to hire Stoneworks so that no one has to go through what I had to experience. Now i will have to pay someone extra money to fix problem created by Stonework Canada personnel.
This client was very happy with the work that she ordered and personally supervised and on completion paid in full. Then she talk with her landscaper who told her that everything was wrong and that the job is not according to some code. She became very unhappy and accused us of all sorts of things and called us derogatory names. When she was told that we are willing to fix any problem as long as she would clearly stipulate the building code and the remedy that she wants us to do in writing we would do it. We still have not received that request.
I hope I can save another family from enduring what we had to with Stone Works Canada. It's actually a god send we fired them after they failed to commit to their contract before they did more work because what they did complete was inferior workmanship. We hired them at early in the year to replace our driveway and side walk with the lovely Stone-Link product. After poor communication from them they finally started work on June 4th. By July 3rd they had shown up on only 3 occasions for about 2 hours each visit. All they managed to do was consume a lot of beer and dig up the old driveway and lay some of the side walk which turned out to be uneven and had to be relayed. They didn't dig the driveway deep enough either for the product we used. They had poor communication, never showed up when they said they would, and terrible work ethics, taking no pride in their work and they never treated our project seriously or showed any respect towards us. I gave them the benefit of the doubt again and again to my detriment. They only contacted us when they wanted more money. We paid them $10,800 all for the pleasure of this shoddy work and to this day we are out of pocket. I encourage everyone to stay away from these fools!
Stone Works Canada acted in accordance of our contract and fulfilled our responsibility to the client until his refusal to comply with the request for payments.
His comment is malicious, derogatory and untrue!
Stone Works Canada paid for all the material and labor and we do not owe the client any money he owes money to us also his first payment to us went NSF but was corrected later.
