I contacted Larry of Sun Rise Contracting to completely renovate my bathroom.
The project included new sub floor, new celing, new walls, installation, wiring, toilet, sink, soaker tub, shower doors, ceiling fan, light fixture and shelving, ceramic tiles on floor and wall. All the plumbing was replaced including the stack. We also put in a another door from the bathroom to the master bedroom.
I am pleased with Larry's work and plan on using him to redo my basement and kitchen in the new year. His price was fair and the required down payment was minimal. Pictures of the process and finished product can be provided to anyone who might be interested.

Feedback from Dorothy in Scarborough Ontario for basement renovation for Handy Canadian.
I looked through the Handy Canadian directory for a local contractor in the Scarborough/Pickering area and contacted Sun Rise Contracting at 905-576-1060. Larry Bond responded to my call for a free estimate with respect to a basement renovation. He promptly came out to my residence and I felt very comfortable with his presence and business sense. He understood my request and explained to me what needed to be done to finish my basement into two separate areas, one being a bedroom the second a living space. He also finished the bottom of the stairway, with a separate entrance between my laundry area and the new living space.
He provided me with a written quote within 6 hours and asked for a fair deposit for starting materials. He also made various suggestions, recommended above the quote for me to think about.
The overall quality of his workmanship was really good and he kept the area clean.
The work he completed included framing, bulkheads for ductwork, 12 pot lights, three dimmer switches and three new doorways. He completed new dry wall throughout, including walls, ceiling and several bulkheads He plastered the entire area and brought it to a finish, then added new trim and door casings. He primed all areas and finish painted the entire basement,
When the quoted work was completed he suggested a new sub floor as well as some 12.5 mm laminate for the flooring. It looks great.
This contractors workmanship, commitment to good public relations and focus to his clients needs is highly recommended by both myself and my husband. He is still completing more work for us in our home and we have referred him to several friends and family members. You will not go wrong hiring this contractor because he cares and overall he is fair.
Thanks Larry

We hired Larry Bond to renovate our basement (i.e. ceiling and taping/plastering) based on his reviews, 5 star rating, referral, pictures of his work that he provided and his reasonable price. Our experience with Larry started off positive as he was very courteous, timely and was totally focused on our project. However, we were disappointed with the quality of the finished product as several of the walls werent straight, sanding and the plastering were done poorly in various areas of the basement and the job wasnt fully completed. There have been several contractors and painters that have come by since Larry has left and commented on the poor finish of Larrys work. After this job, I question Larrys 5 star rating.
Furthermore, early on in the project I mentioned to Larry that one particular bulk head wall wasnt straight at all (i.e. had a bump and was bent), he assured me that he would make it straight by the end of the project. When it came time to make the final installment to Larry, I was a bit hesitant as the wall still wasnt straight and there were many other areas that required his attention. However, Larry assured me that he was trustworthy and that we will work on the defective areas including the wall until I was satisfied. He also told me that if we couldnt make it straight, he would tear it down and rebuild it. Now that the project is done, the wall still isnt straight and I believe Larry had no intention of tearing down the wall to make it straight. I feel this was an empty promise just to get his payment. Word of advice, no matter what the circumstance; never make the final payment until the job is completed to your satisfaction. This applies to Larry or any other contractor. Larry did return to fix the deficiencies but starting complaining that he was spending too long on our project. As a result he left various areas unfinished and had the gall to say that we should have the painter finish those areas even though we had paid him to do the job. If Larry had spent the time to initially produce a quality product, he wouldnt have needed so much extra time in fixing his own work. Now I will have to hire someone to complete the work that Larry was supposed to do. This review shouldnt come as a shock to Larry as I have voiced my concerns to him without any success. This job was the one in 100 that a client just could not be satisfied , I gave him the best price possible at the beginning and from day one he tried to lower the price and nickle and dime the renovation, his wife said the job was very good and the small plastering marks could be taken care of by their painter ,I have been a contractor on an on going basis for over 20 years , this client had no knowledge of construction but his spouse did and was there on a daily basis .
i also complete extras for this client and was not going to charge him any thing , but I have now sent him an invoice and expect to be paid or I may put a lean on his residence .
I apologize If this clients story may deter any one from my services , but I can supply many references that would prove my experience and that the above client is clearly lying or at least stretching the truth . He is a stone picker
This client I have a bad feeling about at the beginning of the quote process and should have known better to deal with him at all .
He was clearly after a free renovation or a multi thousand dollar job for almost no investment from him .
If your a contractor I would recommend that you don't deal with this guy.
thanks for your time .
Life goes on as there are good clients out there that are actually willing to pay

Larry from Sun Rise was chosen from handycanadian.com to repair a wall and as an unplanned decision when he arrived to do the repair, I hired him to paint my entire condo. His work was fantastic. He was extremely pleasant, accomodating, and got the jobs done quick. I was thrilled to find that he had cleaned everything up after the jobs as well. I would highly recommend Larry for any work and will definitely contact him for any future needs.
