Syd’s Flooring did an incredible job refinishing my hardwood floors and matching existing floors. To make a long story short, sadly, I had originally hired a different company that has been in business for a long time in the Ottawa area and the nightmare began. The original company (not Syd) was hired for a simple job, which due to their improper processes, led to me needing my floors refinished completely – the floors had to be stripped to bare wood and stained twice, and they still didn’t achieve the colour that I chose to match other existing hardwood, or a colour that was even remotely close. After the 2nd attempt and significant damage to my floor boards, I fired the original company and based on the online reviews, called Syd in for an estimate.

His price was slightly higher, but worth every penny! The difference in the process undertaken to refinish my floors, relative to the original company, was far superior and the outcome was outstanding! Syd and Luc were great to have in my home. They were knowledgeable, clean, careful, polite, punctual and communicative. Their attention to detail was impeccable.

The 98% dustless sanding really is 98% dust free. I am very particular about my house, and I was amazed at how little dust was produced. When they were done, the remaining dust was the equivalent of not having dusted the furniture for 2 weeks. Clean up was easy, and I was not left with stain all over my quarter round and baseboards, which was the case with the original company.

Learn from my mistake – Just because a company has been in business a long time, does not mean they are good. In fact, for floor refinishing, I found that Syd’s Flooring, a newer company (relatively speaking), was far more advanced, with the latest technology in floor refinishing, than the well-established company that I had originally hired.

Our hardwood had been covered in carpet for many years and had multiple staple holes and discolouration around the edges. With Syd's expertise he brought the floors back to life! The dustless system he used didn't leave ANY dust at all, which was wonderful for our move-in day. We chose a natural finish which looks beautiful. I really appreciated that Syd finished the project with brand new 1/4round.

I hired Syd's Flooring based on a referral I received from a real estate agent while I was looking to purchase a townhouse condo. I'm a general contractor, I had met Syd several years ago back when he was working for another flooring company. Knowing that he had struck out on his own I decided to get in touch and see if he had interest in our job.

My wife and I were looking for our floors to get refinished while we were away on holiday. Obviously we needed someone that we could trust as there wouldn't have been anyone around to keep an eye on things while we were away. When Syd arrived to our first meeting both my wife and I were quite impressed. He is truly a genuine and authentic person. Everything was very transparent and comfortable. We had a couple other quotes from finishers I had used for projects in the past as well as referrals from other contractor friends of mine. In the end, our comfort level was with Syd.

While travelling, Syd was very communicative throughout the process with emails including pictures and descriptions. He really decompressed all the stress that is generally present throughout this type of project.

Upon arriving home we opened the door to our beautifully refinished hardwood floors. It was a fantastic welcome.

Syd presented himself as a very personable and confident young man, and could speak with authority about hardwood floors, their composition, their variety, and how to best maintain them. He was polite and engaging, and took his time to explain the process of restoring my floors very well. I felt very confident in giving him the business. I was not disappointed. Syd and his crew were punctual and courteous, and got right down to work. They were very respectful of my home and all their surroundings, and took great care to get the job done efficiently.

I had another general handyman working on my home at the time, and he commented several times on how great the new floors looked and how impressed he was that they were able to get right up to the edges without damaging the baseboards or walls.

Syd and Luc did a fabulous job on our hardwood floors. After 15 years we thought we had to replace the floors, as a few areas were severely worn. Syd and Luc restored them beautifully. They took the time to explain the process, the timing for replacing the furniture and proper care of the floors. They even left a maintenance kit!

Syd and Luc are true professionals. Stay away from friends and relatives with a sanding machine! Their dustless process allowed us to stay in the house, except for few hours.
