The year 2019 marks the thirty-second year for myself in the residential renovation industry. From humble beginnings, forging my way in the early years as an eager apprentice under the tutelage of some fine craftsmen, I am still equally passionate as I was then. I simply ..... love it! A huge investment in my "forever home", I was looking for someone reputable AND with experience. I had the good fortune of crossing paths with Mike and haven't regretted it. The scope of work was such that it was necessary for my family to move out, while this took place. The entire main floor was taken back to the studs and redone, a new kitchen, four piece bathroom, hardwood and porcelain floor coverings, beautiful finishes like crown and more. The timing went a touch longer but this is understandable since one should be prepared for that. Hidden deficiencies, back ordered products will make this happen. Mike was working at our house every day during this process. Before starting this process I was a little anxious but before long, Mike allowed me to sleep nights. Thank you for all your efforts Mike!
I don't usually do this, but people will want to know NOT to hire this person-Michael Matus. First of all, he took weeks to do a job that should have taken one or two days tops. Because this was not a total kitchen reno, it was hard to find someone who would do it. Not only did it take several weeks, but he did not do a great job. The last day he was here, there were still several little details to take care of. He wanted to be paid in full, with the promise he'd be back on Monday to finish. That was a few weeks ago now. He never showed up, or responded to texts, e-mails, or phonecalls. So the below grade job was never finished, he was paid (my bad) and just skipped out.
In response to this review. First, I was not retained by "Margaret" through this website and yet this review appears here on Trusted Pros! I have NEVER paid one cent to this website to conduct business, it was just a curiosity.
I completed the request from client in its entirety. True, I received full payment for what was agreed on. The fact that it was difficult for client to acquire someone to do it, one would think that gratitude would be the response. This "client" is precise on exactly how long a job should take, 1 or 2 days(perhaps she should have done this herself??) but kinda vague on her accusation of completion! Hmmm ... the assumption of you're the only job on the go at that particular time, that others queued should be cast aside.
Not sure how the uncleanliness review applies, since the cupboards (50+ year old and originally built onsite ... not like today's modulars) were modified in my own shop?? In addition, any on site work/detail was conducted outside clients house (ie cutting of trim pieces etc). I believe the client is disappointed in the fact that I didn't return to complete some detail that was NOT part of the original agreement. It was a case of ... "oh, can you do this now, can you just cover this?" I would do this, but I need to know in advance so I can prepare and have what is necessary on site. I can't drive back multiple times to put a piece of 1/4 round on. Time is money. This is not a hobby. It is unfortunate, I suppose, that one is not allowed to take a holiday (after this job was completed) and as a result, DOES NOT engage in business during personal time with family. I return from holiday to be greeted by this review. For all who actually see this review, I can provide you with dozens of VERIFIABLE stellar reviews for this one unfortunate "nothing you can do to satisfy this person".
I would not have been able to sustain myself for 30 plus years if this review was a pattern.
I have one more important detail to reveal! I was NOT hired to do a kitchen renovation, this was ONLY some "this close to the fire pit" cupboard modification. I was NOT hired to do any flooring, electrical, lighting, plumbing painting, appliance installation (although a purchased, second hand, greasy microwave, with a modified (by "client") wall mount bracket was asked to be installed but I refused for safety reasons, was requested, tiling, drywall ... I may be omitting something but hopefully you get the general idea.
Oh, by the way, it is actually slanderous to post a review in which the website was NOT involved and use my actual name, company name. It is to this customers good fortune that I did not pursue this legally.
I have a clientele base too vast and frankly, this job was just "pocket change" to me. I will reverse the tables and say ... beware of certain customers out there, all my fellow trades and/or craftsmen/women. If you've been in business long enough, you know exactly what I mean! There are far more honest, decent, hardworking trades people than there are not!
That is all. Good fortune to all.
Thank you.

Since 1990, I have had the opportunity to independently collaborate with hundreds of clients on a wide variety of projects. The variety of work is far too diverse to list and being formally trained as a finish carpenter, complete kitchen and bathroom makeovers, basement conversions, fine trim work and more, come naturally to me.
Whether your home was built to the standards of yesteryear, is a new build or a condominium ... no problem. I will foster your confidence with my personal attention, a clean working environment and a cordial manner in your home.
My professional license, extensive product knowledge and commitment to quality will ensure your satisfaction.
I requested but to no avail, that I be removed from this website. I have never paid one cent to this website/company for any lead generation. I had no choice but to supply information to feed my curiosity, at the time, to this website and now held hostage. Please read the reviews about Trustedpros" and you will be enlightened!
