Greg started off strong at the start of the job. Showed up for quotes, and start date as promised. Was initially given a $500 deposit, as written in contract, as well as another $1000 when the work started. Everything seemed fine, until they came with the first couple yards of gravel, and some 2x4's to make the framework. This is when Greg asked for more money and said that the finish prep would happen that week, as well as the pour. Since he had been great up to that point, I said that he would not receive all of the money, but reluctantly gave another $1000 in good faith. This is when the work stopped. It took me weeks to even get them back out with another load of gravel, which just got dumped between two piles of scrap wood and buckets/old used materials. Also, we had his equipment stored in our garage the whole time, up until now. After 6+ promised returns over 6 weeks that he didn't show up for, and that were followed by a day or two of not answering his phone or text, they finally showed up! This time it almost seemed like it would happen! Friday afternoon and Saturday morning they levelled the framework, and finished tamping the gravel, with a promise of pouring Saturday afternoon. By 4pm Saturday Greg texted another one of his excuses about the cement company cancelling because they were too busy. Unfortunately, I know people at this company, and was informed that there was never an order even placed for delivery anywhere near my area.
Faith has been completely lost in getting this job finished with Greg, and we have requested some money returned. I have offered multiple times over the past couple days to talk numbers so he would still be paid for the work completed. He stopped responding as soon as he realized I had caught him in a lie, and refuses to answer now. I do not suggest this company to anybody! We are out $2500, with only the gravel and framework completed. I am trying to stick with the contract and was willing to ask that only the extra $1000 that was given be refunded, as this money was meant to pay for the cement that was never ordered. I tried harder than ever to get a response, and finally got one in the form of a VERY rude voicemail full of profanity. He stated that we are done, and I will get no money back, or work completed.
Shame on me for giving extra cash to someone who seemed legit! Never again!
Greg from concrete guys booked Saturday May 20 to begin, he required a cash deposit so we met on site and I gave him $1300, for a $2000 job. He said he would get started asap, so he dropped off a couple guys and left. I stopped back a couple hours later and they managed to get a flower bed out and jack out a bit of old concrete but no one was around, they worked a couple hours and left. I called Greg and he said they are kids and its the long weekend and he expected it. He said he would be back Tuesday after the long weekend to finish.
I came back Tuesday and no one on site, I called and he said they were on the way. This excuse went on for a few days, they had made some vague attempts to lay some studs on the ground for forms but nothing more then that. I called Greg and made arrangements for my guys to dig out the sod with a back hoe for $250 to make it go quicker as he didn't have machinery or equipment. Greg agreed to deduct this off the balance owing. Days after no work ever got done, he kept telling me it looks like rain and he cant pour concrete today but he didn't even have the gravel base in or and forms up. Each day I called and each day was another excuse. Soon after that Greg stopped answering his phone. I was forced to go to his foreman's house and he didn't know what was going on.
At this point I called the Police and they said it what a civil matter and suggest I proceed through small claims court. After many calls the following week Greg said he would return my deposit by the end of the week of June 2nd but he never did. I texted him and asked if he required more time and he said I quote "That would be nice, I had truck issues and cost me 4 grand, its been tough. I will contact you asap and have full intentions of paying you. and thanked me as he said 'Im in a tough spot". I never heard back so I called him Monday June 8th he answered the phone and said he call me back in 15 minutes but he never did. I have since had to hire another company to do the work and pay more money again.
I don't suggest using Greg from concrete guys as they aren't reliable, hes a fast talker, and lies to your face. Both Greg and his foreman dont drive and rely on girlfriends to drive them around. Greg was living with his mom still and clearly dont have his life together yet.
Dave sharda demanded me to pour within days of booking. I took away a couple loads of concrete. Saw cut another piece and removed. Work on it right away on long weekend. Rain three days that week. Demanded pour on Fri or asked to not finish job. Unreasonable. And all he does if profit off other contractors and does nothing.
The complaint he's speaking of is a neigh bour of a reno house he has. Already making money there and increasing the neighbours bill to a margin where he's making more off job then me. Just because this isn't being done doesn't mean others aren't welcome. He only speaks and shows others what he wants them to see. His in person words are different. 2 hours after he posted this add he messaged me to do a larger job. He didn't realize that I get alerts from this site. He can't do cement and seeks others and pays very little and wants it done yesterday. He's an exaggerater of words and also a bully.
Sincerely yours the guy who's not paying you for nothing. Get over yourself. Also threatened with violence and talk of selling an imaginary debt. And called the police while throwing me under the bus to get his cut.
Contracted "The Concrete Guys" mid spring for a tear out and new concrete driveway, an initial deposit was given. They started tear out 6 weeks later, a little at a time over 10 days leaving multiple piles of debris over the process.
Concrete was formed and poured within the following week, they returned 6 days later to cut lines. Leaving a huge mess on neighbour's property. It has been 3 months since and they have not returned to do the finishing work and clean-up.
I paid un full day of pouring, HUGE MISTAKE. Many attempts have been made to set up finishing work always met with a new excuse. If you have already contracted them I advise not making full payment till job is finished and cleaned up. At an extra expense to me I have cleaned up my neighbour's property and paid for removal of leftover lumber and debris.
Unprofessional staff, spotted urinating between houses. One asked for a ride home because he couldn't do anymore work by noon due to no way to tear up more, out of room due to debris and no way to transport it.
Now they send people by as a reference, but can't seem to finish the job. This gives me the opportunity to point out the improper grading and cracks already forming.
UPDATE IN REGARDS TO COMPANY'S RESPONSE : They denied even doing the job when review was first submitted, now they state that a rep contacted me saying the job was completed to my satisfaction. The only attempts to communicate were me attempting to set up parging and clean up, 6 attempts over the months. I have added the pictures of what they call a complete job. Sept 25 2016
This job was done to satisfaction and he has never contacted us.Our rep even spoke to this person and the client said he was happy
I would not recommend Greg and his company Concrete Guys.
We hired them to remove a footing for porch stairs (had shifted and were uneven) and form and pour a 18" x 6' landing pad for the new stairs. He said he was able to come the next day and do the job.
We were going out of town and I offered to leave the cash payment in the mailbox. Well, he came the next day and picked up the payment. Didn't do any work. Talked to him and got a story about truck trouble. Gave him benefit of the doubt, he promised it would be done the next day, the concrete is in my truck right now. Greg likes to make promises. He is not so good at delivering.
We were out of town for four days, returned to the work still not started. Text and call again. "Fired five guys this week" and More promises. A couple days later the old pad gets chipped out this is only like 10 square feet of concrete. A very small job. Didn't form or pour the new pad! Wtf?
Four days later the new pad still has not been done.
I am without steps to my front door for almost two weeks now. The promises aren't making any work get done. I poured the footing myself, he said he would reimburse me my money. It's been three weeks.
A dozen texts , "I'm on vacation this week, will bring money next week" and promises later still no return of my money. I even ran into him at a store near my house, "will drop off the money this afternoon".
Yeah, he never did. It's been a week since then.
Concrete guys, you are terrible at pouring concrete I guess, because you couldn't even get your act together to do a small job.
You are terrible at running your business and managing your projects. I am pretty sure you are a good mix of scammer and failed business owner.
I will edit my review if he ever pays us back, but not much hope in that, obviously.
Edit in response to rebuttal below.
That is your response? When you put your name on a business card and hand it out, as well as posting your business on REVIEW sites, you have to accept what your customers have to say.
I may have been able to give you a good review. Unfortunately you never made it back to show off your skill and workmanship.
You were the one who said you would come the next day when I contacted you for this small job. You came and took the money from my mailbox and never said a thing with regards to coming back.
I had to contact you numerous times and you said you would be there next day numerous times.
That is exactly how this played out.
You even implied you would be back this past Tuesday to settle up. You never showed, you never called. Clearly this is your pattern.
Suck up your bad reviews and own your words/promises.
We removed the concrete and got busy. The situation will be rectified.Everyone has bad things to say and nothing good. When there happy they forget you. When there not they bad mouth you as much as possible. This is a gossip site. Many satisfied people. Some bad custom era
