From personal experience working in shop and on the field for installations.
An entire list shortfalls would be hard to summarize. Connected to this ‘business’ are fantom/phantom glass, wine cellar solutions, and sauna solutions. All of which are the same people. Owner Louis Titley. All of the previous names divided on paper. However, very much the same building and company.
Working for them at a reduced rate only agitated the level of disappointment and embarrassment going to contracted jobs to be a missing link. Only to not have a set plan with 3d measurements. On the fly work and thinking are left to an operator to be expected to figure it out. Then is a gross difference from material value and payments rendered a to persons work for as to what the clients pay.
It was a personal experience of being belittled regarding simple matters all roundly. Simple without the desire to pay an appropriate livable wage and the expectation that I install glass, fix broken machines, operate under maintained trucks to transport tools and materials. Install low voltage lighting, and correct pdi’s of the clients from either shop defects or installation errors.
There was an overtime of the classical users mantra. We’ll have you do work valued greater then what we pay. However, until we see what you can do, we won’t pay more.
With that said, I have given more then the value of what I have received and now that the new year is here and they’re cop out’covid’ Job lists have been addressed.
I was let go to have been not a great fit, or something or other. I haven’t made the cut.
There are people actually worth what they work for and those guys are the shop workers.
Myself, being a Handyman with a great work ethic and well over a decade of experience being undervalued and degraded was another experience. I was hired because I was cheaper than a temp and the company has a good sales department since it’s mostly Louis himself.
The greatest test of patience on my part with these groups of company’s was the incredible disorganization and lack of knowledge of their own product. They are confident and are greater at selling. Therefore, it’s a buyer beware and of course this is coming from the perspective of someone taking their work to help, and be underpaid.
With this experienced summed up, the only reason it is not one star is because although sometimes obnoxious I like the people here. However, from my perspective these are middlemen trying to run the whole baseball field. During their glory was probably when the owner did the work himself and pulled in his well earned lion’s share. I didn’t see those times, I witnessed the turning of the pride.

In conjunction with Mr Titley's rebuttal reflects clearly on all my previous statements. To add light to the $25hr was taken when originally offered $26. The happenstance would be that there were no shows and people not attending scheduled interviews. In no concise expression was I hired as a fabricator or Cabinet maker. exact words used by Mr Titley were that I was going to be a missing link. Which is indicative that I would be sent outwardly to address deficiencies. Whereas on 22/12/2023 I was hired for a few days, cheaply, scaled down from the $25hr to $20hr cash directly from Mr Titley as a gambit to get an Operator on the field as soon as possible. My initial mistake for overlooking a cheapy Red flag. Once more, giving further context to the mantra.
The laws of Ontario are stated very clearly with employment, Fair work for fair wages. ergo, If a position touches on multiple facets its value is cumulative due to the demand of service exceeding conventional scope. I offered my services as a handyman, and in contrast know the value of collective skills. Markers for problem solving are inherently covered by managements and point of address are given to field operators which was primarily my active function.
The belittling comes from over explanation and doubt someone can't connect two wires, understand basic aesthetic function, commons sense composure in front of clients ergo use of over the phone parables 'hair is on fire' and the like. taking full advantage of gained experience exceeding the simple day to day of the shop and imposing the expectation of fulfilling multiple job roles. Therefore being the subjection on 'Underpayment' In all honestly and very fairly expressed.
Unfortunately I submitted these points as an honest 'internal review' and hopefully these deficiencies can be addressed properly. AS I have my own professional reputation to consider, this time taken is done freely and as a favor. Therefore, not only have I over looked my time wasted and used, but the belligerent misunderstanding of the good will it takes to involve oneself in these efforts and work hard to be dismissed and not rewarded. All the while, the countless other observation I could share in result to my time spent. Albeit, such will not be offered freely.
I too hope all the best for Mr Titley and those on his team in which I can confidently state are in fact strong elements to his business. I intend the subtext will be clear as I previously reviewed.
As the owner of Wine Cellar Solutions, Sauna Solutions, Fantom Glass, and Titley Construction. I will respond to Mr. Gallo s comments in the order they are laid out in his review
Mr. Gallo is correct, Almost thirty years ago, I started Titley Construction, due to hard work, and always going above and beyond for my clients, I was fortunate to add divisions to my business, namely Wine Cellar Solutions which I added 25 years ago, along with Sauna Solutions , and Fantom glass, all four separate companies are managed by myself and my office team of designers, and managers.
Mr. Gallo was hired based on his experience as he explained in his interview, our main interest in Mr. Gallo was his experience in millwork and cabinetry, as we have a custom millwork shop, and was offered $25.00/hr to start, which is an above average for new employees in our industry until they show their skillsets, all employees go through a probation period for up to 3 months before they are considered a full-time permanent employee. In the short time, Mr. Gallo was employed with us (4 weeks), we discovered his millwork and fabricating skills were unfortunately far below the level of quality our clients are expecting.
In our industry, thinking on the fly and problem-solving is an everyday occurrence in our custom-build world.
Belittling employees is not part of our culture, if Mr. Gallo felt belittled, it was not our intention.
Installation of products including glass, and low voltage lighting, and maintaining equipment are everyday ongoing tasks, including problem-solving when confronted with defects or installation errors, all in the life of custom builds.
I believe Mr. Gallo is confusing problem-solving with a lack of knowledge, every custom build is a learning experience, with its challenges, and it is our responsibility to solve the issues, no matter how big, small, or complicated.
As previously mentioned, all employees are started at an above industry rate, with the opportunity to have wage increases based on their skill set, unfortunately, Mr. Gallo did not make the cut , dismissing employees is one of the most stressful parts of any business and not something we take lightly.
I wish Mr, Gallo all the best in his future endeavors.
Louis Titley
I orginally had a wine cellar put into my basement by Louis and his team three years ago. They did such an impressive job I could not let anyone else renovate my basement. Louis and his team work closely with you to make sure the job is done to your specifications with the utmost care and attention to detail. Finding a contractor you can trust can be difficult -- put your mind at ease and give Titley Construction a call.
I had Titley do a number of upgrades to my home and they were always professional and reliable. The work included granite counters, floor and wall tiling, plumbing upgrades, as well as trim. Most recently they came to do some urgent follow up service and came same day which was unexpected and welcome.

A funny incident is when you see someone huff and puff with the embodiment of: if you want to do it right do it yourself. In action shaving down mole hair besides his glass work and playing it off. The other field operator jesting of him the whole time saying this man thinks he s so slick shaving down the hair with a buzzer. When they have varying thickness. Instead that day he used an Olfa knife and shaved three sections bald. Then pulled me aside the night of the incident and pointedly complained about his staff for complaining about Louis s disorganization and falling infront of a client who lives in a beautiful manor on the east end of Ottawa. The time to 6:30 pm I had not been compensated for.
Another embarrassing instance was for wine cellar solutions at La Cit whereas, this goes to show the sales pitch was greater than the teams know how.
Expecting to work with a system with the wrong configurations and the college patiently waiting for the work to be completed. All the while when I was just one of many people sent to figure it out.
