T.G.C.S. was created out a need to service past clients. I had retired after 35 years of residential and commercial projects. It seems there is a need for a good company with many trades and contacts to get projects completed on time and at a reasonable price. It would be a privilege for our company to give you a free estimate and a great job. If you are i read more...

We would not and have not recommended Total Construction Management. We are very disappointed at the way we were treated and the 'completion' of our garage project. They started off great but things started to decline. There were several errors made during the construction process. Example. Window that was supposed to be centered had to be redone three different times because they did not measure and centre the window. We had crews that they hired just up and leave on us and after they made mistakes. Things are not lined up properly in some places. Example there is a huge gap at our man door to the garage because they did not measure correctly for the door or fix it when it was installed.
We paid them on time every time. They kept to our budget but we always felt pressure from them to do more. This was a big deal for us building this garage and our life savings. We told them from the beginning we wanted just the exterior done and the siding would come the next year. From the beginning we said we just want the wrap on the exterior for now. They have still not finished it. When they found out (although this shouldn't have been a surprise as we stated from the beginning) that they were not getting any extra money out of us, that their quality of work and kindness quickly deteriorated. They sent one worker to our place to 'finish' the wrap on the garage. Even ordered a ladder and had it delivered. The guy came here, drank coffee and smoked several cigarettes in the half hour period he was here and then left. The places left to complete the wrap were high up. It is February and we have had the winter with these parts of our new garage exposed to the weather.
Steve is terrible at project management and customer relations. He also made us very uncomfortable as every time he came to our home he reeked of alcohol and was driven around by his sister. We were always promised he was going to give us a schedule ... never received one. The framing/building went well time wise but when it came time to do the concrete floor for the garage, they kept delaying and delaying it. Our construction was done by April and the floor was not poured till August. It disrupted several of our plans and they were just rude about it when we would ask when someone was coming. Steve kept telling us everyone was behind schedule. Yes but not to that extreme. We called several companies ourselves and could have gotten it booked in. When the people did come to do our floor we found out from them that they were sub sub contracted. They did not do a fantastic job and in fact stole some of my husbands tools.
We are still disappointed and would not use their services. Several people have stopped by our place to ask who built the garage. We even offered to TCM that they could put a sign out in front of our house. But now we just let people know who not to use. It's unfortunate as they start off great when your money is coming in and then they change. The owner, James, was quite rude to us. It's not how you treat a customer. And cleaning up the job site? They sent people who just walked around and smoked some more. We must have cleaned up 500 cigarette butts and are still finding coffee cups and garbage they left around.
I would not recommend Total Management Construction! They're incompetent, dishonest and only after your money. We hired them and found them to be unreliable as they would not show up for days at a time with no explanation and there workmanship and work ethic is terrible. Candice, Steve and James are all talk once they have your money. I 100% do NOT recommend them!!! Our project was 6 months behind schedule because if them!
TCM convinced us to go with them for our framing job after taking 3 months to complete our ifc foundation in which they did an okay job. The had one framer and 1 labourer on the job to frame our entire new home! And, there were several occasions when no one would show up for days and just over a week with zero explanation. We were told they did not know where the framer was and they couldn't get a hold of him! We repeatedly asked them to bring more framers on the job (1 framer and 1 labourer) was surely not enough to complete our home in the 3 weeks they promised but that never happened and so we were 3 months into framing and only 1 St floor partially framed on 2500 sq ft house!!!! To top it all off, their labourer didn't have their own equipment and on several occasions used and damaged our personal property to get their work done (they used our planters to transport cement mix, used our outdoor brooms and even our neighbours wheelbarrow!)
Yes, we did have an nsf cheque but when we found out we promptly provided payment. And yes, we did stop payment because we realized afterwards that they did complete all the work as per our contract plus we were so behind schedule. I guess TCM thinks its okay to be paid the full amount for only a portion of the work! Regarding all the "free" work they did for us, that's total bs....we paid for everything that they charged us for and never asked for anything for free. Also, we recently found that TCM did not pay some of the sub trades they used on our project. The building inspector was also not happy with their work.
I am taking the time to write this review to warn others about TCM as I would hate for someone else to go through what we did. What they claim to be and do is completely false.
They are incompetent, unreliable and have poor workmanship. I am sure they will refute everything I've said but buyer beware, be seriously beware of these guys.
We are sorry for the negative comment, it is unfortunate, as we completed multiple drawing changes without billing the client, even after the client signed stating no more changes would be requested, we still made changes, and met with the building department to have said changes approved, all at no additional cost to the client. The client expected our trades to work in unacceptable weather conditions, we provided trades, as requested, worked directly with suppliers, and were constantly available to discuss all issues. We strive to please clients, there are times when both sides may have issues coming to resolution, the client placed stop payment on progress bills, as well as provided an NSF cheque. Delays to the projects, were not 6 months behind, as in all construction projects there are extenuating circumstances that may cause delays, however clients and contractors typically work together to resolve issues. We are disheartened to receive this review, we were initially hired to complete the foundation, the client liked our services so much they hired us to continue with the project. When reading the negative review, always remember there are two sides to a story. We stand behind the work we produce, and the team working towards achieving an end product to meet our client's vision.
We are sorry you feel the way you do, past clients, and current clients are pleased with the product provided. Every story has two sides, we appreciate your side, and always strive to work directly with our clients, in a courteous manner, working to their end result. Once again, we appreciate your comments, and take note of your view.
Jim & his team were professional, sincere and completed our basement in the time frame they said they would. They were very friendly, considerate and accommodating to us. They did an absolute terrific job in finishing our basement and we couldn't be happier with the end result. It will be a joy to entertain and relax in our now amazing basement. Thank you to all your staff & yourself Jim for completing a job well done. We would recommend your company & have to anyone needing any renovations in their homes.
