Horrible, don't hire this guy to do anything. Travis did a sloppy very unprofessional job of installing my handrail. The first time he put it together two of the spindles where not level and the spacing between all spindles was uneven. Before he pulled it apart I asked him if he was confadent this was something he could do and he assured me it was. He tore it apart and redid it, this time the spindles were level and even but the filler pieces for the track on the runner and the underneth of the handrail didn't fit properly in all the spaces. Some are too skinny, others are too short and some stick out. He filled some of the spaces and stained the wood but in the meantime also got filler and stain all over the spindles. Travis also installed runners, one set going down a set of stairs and another going up a set of stairs. On one side he has originally cut it too short and then just cut a small piece to make up for it but once it was stained it looked horrible because you could see the cut line. He was happy to leave it even though there was another piece of maple long enough out in my garage, I did have him replace it. Travis also got glue on four of my carpeted stairs that I have yet to get out. The job is still unfinished, spindles need to be cleaned up, spaces still need to be filled and lacquer needs to be done. Travis texted my husband two days in a row saying he was sick and on the second day said he was behind and would not be coming back. My husband called him and left a voicemail asking him to call back, Travis didn't so a week later he left another voicemail asking the same thing. Almost two weeks after the last text Travis sent us I sent him a text asking him to reimburse the money we had paid him, this amount does not even include the cost of the wood and spindles, I directly paid for that myself. I had another company come in to see about having them finish the job and found out A LOT of things were done wrong and the handrail is not up to code. Code says form the footing to the top of the handrail it must be a height of at least 900mm, that is just shy of 35.5 inches, mine currently only sits about 33.5 inches in height. I was also told the runners were cut too thin, that you should not be able to see carpet sticking out further than the end of the runner. I did share with Travis that the rail was not up to code and his response was that he did it to the specs of the company where I had bought the materials from and that I needed to take it up with them.
Travis left a mess in my house every night of sawdust and finishing nails and would peices all over. He also left the same mess in my garage and all over my driveway. He cut the iron spindles and left the cut peaches all over my lawn and driveway also. At one point he asked if he could bring his saw into the house because he would only be doing a few small cuts but the next day he was doing much more cutting so he was asked to take the saw back outside. It was lightly raining that day but there was space in the garage and my husband told him he was welcome to set it up in there.
I recently decided to build an additional bedroom in my basement. I was able to frame, do the electrical and sheetrock the room. I did not want to try and tackle the hard job of mudding and taping. I called on help of Travis at Total Look Home Renovations. Well he and his team went right to work. Travis was very knowledgeable and would offer ideas and his professional opinion on many of the additional tasks I was planning on doing myself. This job was done on time and under budget due to the efficiency of this team and the good communication they have. Travis also told me what his next step was and what he had accomplished each day. I am impressed with the craftsmanship and final out come of my now completed basement bedroom.
I would recommend Travis and his team at Total Look Home Renovations to anyone needing a reno done.
Thanks Total Home Renovations for a job well done.
In early 2018 Travis and his crew renovated our 2.5 bathrooms and replaced the front door and all interior doors, including closet doors, in our mid 1970s home. This was not an easy job. What a transformation!
He and Joanna were so good to work with. Not only is Travis a master carpenter, tile-layer, door-hanger and more, he also has outstanding specialized tradespeople working for him: Plumber Mike, Electrician Dave, a glazier, carpet installer and even a tub finisher. It was mainly Travis and his son Josh ("the engineer") doing the work, but at different times we met other members of this nice family.
A large scale renovation like ours was not easy, including how one's normal living patterns are altered. Through it all, Travis kept things positive, all members of his group were so kind and respectful.
We installed a steam shower as a new feature; this was technically difficult with a lot of adjusting of pipes and electrical. Travis handed every curve and knuckleball I threw at him with aplomb, including the 11th hour addition of a heated shower bench. Also, he spend so much time fixing the very small items that we identified near the end of the project. And Travis often said "Hey, I am not living here, I don't want you to be thinking three months from now, "why didn't I do that??""
As a final point, Travis (and Joanna) have good ideas on all aspects of design including fixtures. They know the materials and how to install them correctly.
The finished look in all three bathrooms is stunning. And the interior doors have given our home a new, stylish appearance.
We are so pleased with the work of Travis and Joanna at Total Look Home Renovations and recommend them highly.
Travis is a very upbeat professional! He and his crew were very easy to work with easilily providing creative solutions and prompt service. They are very trustworthy and consistent in the high quality of their work.
I have recommended Total Look to a number of friends who have been equally impressed.
I also found that the prices charged by Total Look to be consistently less than what the competitors had quoted.

Kitchens, With all the media information available these days on DIY projects, sometimes people think that a renovation of a kitchen is something they can tackle. However, a kitchen renovation project can be one of the most expensive and intensive renovation projects you can do in your home.
Painting your home is the quickest and most economical change to make in your home. Nothing freshens up a drab home faster than a professional coat of paint. Likewise, nothing says DIY like a poorly painted room. Poor choice of color is another common mistake people can make.
