My experience started off well but ended up terribly, left with a hole and frame with tarp, rain coming in and a mess inside with little work done in 5 months.
After reviewing more than 6 contractors, I signed a contract to do all, with Jospeh Jones after receiving a competitive quote, a 2 month timeline and ideas that sounded like he knew what he was doing.
I left town, made to feel confident, and came back to little done. Beyond putting in half the stair ringer in and knocking out a wall that was not on the plan, not much else was done. I had now paid over 50%. He said he had money issues, bad clients in the past, and I needed to pay directly for things, even though I hd already paid over half by this point, I agreed. More months went by and I paid another 25% of the costs. Finally 4 months later, the hole was cut and framing done, however several times during this process, I was left with rain coming in. Once they forgot to fill marker holes, second time, board blew off and third time everything blew off.
At this point Josephs crew and roofers showed up. Joseph did not. Everyone demanded that I pay them. Joseph had to take time off so I was to handle it. I tried to get hold of him but no word. Days went by, then finally he said he was still working on my project but he had to talk to me about it. He wanted more money to complete it.
This is when I canceled the contract. I have been scrambling to complete all and it will end up costing me much more as a result of this.
He also took a deposit to do my neighbours place and has since told them he isn't coming back. Hasn't returned the deposit or his keys.
He did not complete many aspects that needed to be done for safety, and was very slow and frustrating to work with because of the lack of communication and absence half the time.
He was very good at ideas, and he is a very charming man who does know what he is doing but the rest is not acceptable.

Joseph and crew are great bunch of guys. They had lot of experience in demo and renovation. There was a major problem with my floor joists being rotted and Joseph advised me to tear out and install new floor joists. The area was my kitchen and with weight of 2 layer of tiles it did lots of damage to joist. I had shower leak from master washroom and rotted out over time. Overall job was completed on time and quality was excellent. I would recommend Upcyle Living Homes. Thanks. Carey
