Before I invited Frank Pastore, Frank worked for my friend and he had sixteen five stars reviews on Google.
Frank provided an estimate on March 21. He sounded like a trustworthy and knowledgeable person, giving some tips and suggestions.
The estimate exceeded my budget. Frank easily agreed to lower the price because "we had common friends"
Frank is gifted in talking manipulatively. He knows how to influence, be friendly, and bond with people. He gives an impression of giving an immediately solving a problem and making a personal connection. Later, Frank admitted that he was not able to pay his mortgage for two months and rent for his shop (his relative is managing that shop now). He also mentioned that his family survived on the salary that his wife earned as a teacher. Now I realize how Frank succeeded to win a deeper level of my trust - by being so transparent. His inability to pay for the mortgage and rent was supposed to be a red flag, but it had a different effect on me. I felt sympathetic towards Frank's situation. It was the main reason why I trusted Frank.
After providing an estimate as a lump sum, Frank mentioned that he is extremely busy, and if I want him to do the work, I have to give him $6000 cash NOW. My trust and rapport was already established. I withdraw cash from a loan and gave it to Frank. I asked about signing a contract. He said it will be ready on April 7. At least he texted me that he received money.
When I came home I spoke to my husband. He asked me how could I give money without signing a contract, without defining job descriptions, and without setting exact dates of finishing the job. I asked myself the same question. The answer was: I trusted Frank.
Within couple hours on the same day I texted Frank saying that I'd like to cancel the verbal agreement and get $6000 back. On the next day Frank reassured me that he will return money "tomorrow."
Then it became a game to delay returning the money. When I asked Frank about the money he was not answering my texts. If he answered, it became "tomorrow" or "next week."
Just because Frank was "exceptionally busy," I offered to pick up money on Friday. He couldn't meet with me because he had to drop his son off at soccer practice. On Saturday, it was his son's Birthday party. I offered to pick up the money from his project location. Frank said it will be in Pickering. I said that I didn't mind to drive to Pickering. Then Frank became "sick with stomach flu."
On March 30, Frank finally agreed to meet with me and to return the $6000. After so many deceptive occurences, I didn't trust Frank and was not comfortable to meet with him alone. I asked my friend to be my witness.
Frank arrived, but he didn't have the money. He asked for a further extension of two weeks. At the the meeting he was again trying to gain sympathy. He showed me a contract another lady cancelled on him. I was asking myself how many other people he was taking a deposit from and why she was cancelling her contract as well? I asked Frank if he doesn't have money now, where he is going to get it in two weeks? He said he would borrow money from his mother or sister. Also he stressed out that he has a lot of respect for women...
In writing Frank indicated that he will return the full amount of money no later than April 13. He hasn't returned the money. I emailed and texted Frank. He just disappeared.
On March 21 Frank contacted me and said he wants "to do right thing here" and return the deposit. He promised to return the money on Mar 28. On that day Frank even didn't have courtesy to inform me that he is not coming.
Then he texted me that I "have to be patient" and he will return money in a month. I don't have trust for Frank anymore. Will you?
Nightmare! Pictures say 1,000 words. This guy is a disaster. We found out after the fact that the address he uses on his website is false. There is another business located there, not him. His work is poor, that is when he actually even shows up. He is unreliable, and a liar. He will make up ridiculous stories on why he is not on schedule or why he failed to show up 'again!'. It's always a fight to get him to fix the lousy job he did in the first place. We gave him 2 installment payments totaling 90% for a custom kitchen and he NEVER paid even one cent to the kitchen manufacturer. He just pocketed the money and we're now left without a kitchen and having to start over with a reputable contractor. If you are looking for one of those contractor horror stories and a lot of stress and aggravation, then go ahead and hire him. If you are looking for an honest skilled contractor who is going to do a good job....stay far far away from Frank Pastore! These other reviews are quite old. Clearly he doesn't care about his work or business anymore. If there was any way to give ZERO stars I would.
Nightmare of a job! this client was one of the worst clients I have ever done business with, in her review she fails to mention that this is the second project I have done for her. this job stared as a simple trim and paint job and quickly turned into a full blown main floor and second floor renovation, this client does not understand that the original time lines was based on the original scope of work, having added 80 percent more work to this project the client is upset at the fact that the time lines have changed. being a reputable contractor I have given this client options and also decreased the price of the job to lesson the blow for the delays, however this client was extremely rude when I was trying to figure out a plan for the completion of this project. furthermore this client fails to address that there is still an outstanding balance well over 14000.00 dollars which would cover all the remaining items that have to be addressed. this client has refused me to finish the project while I have every intent on finishing the project. there are always two sides of the story and unfortunately the contract always comes out looking like the bad one! Contractors Beware!!!!! do not take on this project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I recently had my basement renovated by Vaughan View Contracting. My husband and I were so happy with these guys. From our first meeting right through to the end of the reno they were professional, honest, and reliable. They listened to what we wanted and worked hard to get the job done. If you're looking to hire someone, I highly recommend this company. They are down to earth and visible, we never had to worry about quality of work. They are reasonably priced. Not the cheapest company you'll find out there but you definitely get what you pay for. Well worth the peace of mind!
Vince,Joe,and Frank were the best and most experienced contractors i have done buisness with. The work was done beond expectation and were very kind helpfull and most of all when the job was complete, the entire work area was cleaned up. I recomend them and will allways use them.
I recently purchased a condo that was in desperate need of painting and patch work on most of the walls. I was referred to Vaughan View Contracting Inc. through a friend and decided to have them work on my condo. This was a time sensitive project as the full condo (all rooms) had to be painted whitin 2 days as I was having all my furniture delievered. View Contracting Inc. made it happen! They were very efficient, professional and understood the stress and time contraints of a new home buyer such as myself. From the first steps of choosing paint colours they provided excellent service with genuine and honest feedback and advice. During the course of the painting project I did change my mind on a few things and they were willing and ready to make those changes happen even if it meant they had to work well into the evening. In regards to the quality of work - the condo I purchased was in pretty bad condition (walls, previous painting job) after View Contracting Inc. was called in and finished thier work the place looks amazing...every detail was covered, excellent work manship. At the end of the project it didn't even look like I had workers thier becuase they were very clean and made sure everything was tidy and cleaned after thier job. I defineltly am happy I decided to proceed with them and will definetly use them again for futrue projects.
Thank you Frank and Vince for a fantastic Job, your understanding and communication skills to walk us through the project was next to none. My wife and I extremely happy with the final project and will refer you to anyone that will ask.
Keep up the good work.
Joe
