We have nothing but great things to say about Velcro construction. Our renovation turned out better than we could have ever imagined. Andrew was very honest and conscious about the budget. All his crews were very friendly and respectful. Andrew and Jody gave us the en-suite bathroom we never knew we could have!!! Thank you so much Velcor.
I hired Velcor to renovate my basement. It was basically a start from scratch, with new studs, drywall, plumbing, and electrical. Andrew was incredibly timely and efficient. As soon as one contractor was finished, another was ready to start working. There were no delays or issues, and he had a great team of contractors who worked fast, delivered quality results, and were very professional.
I would definitely recommend Velcor for anyone looking to do a renovation or build.
The following review is a buyer beware with Velcor, here was my experience;
I received a phone call stating that a flood had generated from my condo suite into the suite below. I quickly checked and assessed the damage to my suite (none showing). Following that I was told that I need to pay for the repairs to the damage in the suite below, with the new Alberta Law that kicked into place January 1st, 2020 I understand I was liable. HOWEVER, I get a text message from an unknown number, saying Hi I am Pat send me your credit card information over a text. I received no company name, no last name just send your credit card information, EXTREMELY unprofessional. I received no pictures of the damage from Velcor Construction, no explanation of the work that needs to be done, no contact what so ever other than send me your credit card information. I replied with I was not comfortable sending that information and I was insulted because this "Pat" person sent a text to me instead of his receptionist, which honestly is embarrassing for him because I completely acted appropriately especially with all the fake scammers in the world. Now, 2 months later I get a bill for nearly 1300.00. They never came into my suite to assess the origin of the water, never sent pictures of what caused the damage, they confirmed over the phone they would not take responsibility for any further damage.
Recently, I was contacted from the owner of Velcor and while he was pleasant to speak with on the phone he made absolutely no attempt to correct the wrong doings of his company and employees. He mentioned that Pat was one of his employees and that I should not have been contacted that way but stood firm on his price, stated they protocols in place to make sure all parties are aware, which I never was. The reason this is so concerning is that the origin of the leak was never confirmed only being told it came from my toilet but my toilet was never repaired or replaced meaning the flood was likely below the floor resulting in a condo board issue but they wont stand up to the condo, is yet to be determined if the leak with happen again. I asked if the leak happens again will they honor their work to which the reply was they will honor the drywall repair.
In summation, I am on the hook for a leak that I was not responsible for, no pictures other than a before and after. The original leak was never dealt with appropriately, if it happens again I am to "contact the condo board" which means I am responsible again. If I don't pay for it, it gets placed as a lean against my condo (therefore, not an option). Velcor came in, did a 1300 dollar patch job that they wont guarantee their work. Terrible communication and terrible service if you hire this company they are confident to place their name on it but wont guarantee it was done properly.
This small project turned into a challenge with the property manager, 2 separate unit owners, and the condo board. We were hired by one, then it was changed that Tyler was to pay the final bill through the condo board. In the end there was a lot of miscommunication surrounding this leak between all the parties. Unfortunately this happens from time to time with condos and who is responsible for what parts of the unit vs the condo board or insurance, and we work through it. We have been in communication with Tyler numerous times are in the process of working out a solution with Tyler and the condo board to a positive result. Not all jobs go as planned, its how we react or rectify the situation that counts.
Andrew came recommended from two friends and did not disappoint. He kept the project on time, on budget, and had a team of subcontractors that did good work. He was easy to reach and kept us up-to-date on next steps.
Andrew was a dream to work with. He stayed within budget, and we got exactly what we wanted. It was quite an extensive project completing a basement start to finish, and everything was done in a timely, professional matter.
Andrew Veltri worked as my general contractor for a garage build this summer. I needed him to line up the permits, demolition of my old garage and pad, new concrete, framing and electrical tie in for the new structure. Normally I'd try to do all this on my own but this was a little out of my league.
Andrew worked with me to get everything I wanted done all while working within my budget. He lined up great contractors but whenever their work fell below his expectations he was fast to make it right, even if it meant he did the work himself. I definitely wouldn't have been able to line up different trades as quickly as he did. Construction is definitely a industry where connections pay off and I think that's where it really shows it worth to have a good contractor. If there was ever something I needed to ask him he's not hard to get ahold of. He's a busy guy forsure, but either by phone, text or email, you will get ahold of the guy.
Since he knew I wanted to do most of the finishing work myself he offered lots of great suggestions I needed to keep my project on track. As useful as it is to find information online, it's nice to have a person who can offer advice as someone who's actually been there and done that. From someone who's never undertaken a project like this before it really wasn't that bad, he made it seem very manageable. If I ever tackle another project like this in the future I wouldn't hesitate to call Andrew again.
I was very pleased with the work that Andrew and his wife Jody did. Andrew impressed me from the beginning. He was always on time for meetings and was easy to get a hold of. He provided an honest estimate and explained the process and the figures to me.
Jody provided design work for the removation and I am very happy with the final results. She did a good job redesigning my initial request and created a final design the was much more functional. She also provided some great advice for material and colour choices.
During the renovation I was impressed with the trades selected by Andrew; he did a good job staying on top of them and handleing the minor issues that arised.
I would recommend Velcor Construction to anyone and and thankful that I picked them.
