WARNING TO PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS
On Sept. 7 2013 David Locke was found guilty of Sexual Assault; Sexual Interference; & Invite Sexual touching. The victim was a 15 year old girl. DON'T LETY THIS MAN IN YOUR HOUSE OR NEAR YOUR CHILDREN!!!!! http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/handyman-convicted-of-having-sex-with-teen-227022671.html
I can't believe this guy is still in business. Dave, although charismatic is not a man of his word. We took him to court to get our money back. He left us with a gutted house in October with a one year old in the house. DO NOT HIRE THIS "CONTRACTOR"
He will use any excuse in the book. You have been warned.
We had a fence built (use the term BUILT very losely), last year.
It is now falling down. The boards are coming lose, you can pull the 6X6 posts out of the ground without much work. The nails (yes NAILS) are rusty and coming out of the wood. The 6X6 posts are only 2 to 2 1/2 feet into the ground. They were also NOT packed properly. After the 1st strong rain, most of the filling around the posts washed away.
Our property lines were marked clearly however each side of the fence are ON OUR NEIGHBOURS PROPERTY! On one side by a whole foot and a half. Each post is out of line. I can't even begin to describe the horrible workmanship from this company. Shameful. My guess is that every 'good' review of this company is written by the employees. We tried to contact Wabana to come back to fix some of the issues however our calls were never returned and the problems were never aknowledged. Honestly we preferred to never have them return anyways.
We will be hiring a professional to redo the whole fence again this year!
In response to this persons complaint, they are on a property where the water table is 10" under the surface and this was told to them at the beginning of the project but they proceeded regardless. Two days after their project was completed there was a Parries wind storm that shifted the complete fence and I was called. After I went back to see the damage that was caused they had agreed that fence had shifted due to the wind storm. Prior to this and before I was paid this project was inspected and had the seal of approval of the home owners. As for the materials, all was supplied by the home owners. I cannot be responsible for damage caused by a vicious wind storm.
Dave was contacted by me to fix a project that i was previously ripped off by another contractor, only to have Dave walk off with my money.
here is the last email i sent him that he has not answered.
Attention Dave Loche of Wabana Home improvements.
As per our conversation this last weekend, I had requested a cheque or monies be forwarded to me by Monday June 28th, 2010 for the sum of $3400.00.
As I had provided you with a $4000.00 deposit on the quote you had given for $8000.00 ( on record with you and me). The original contract was then cancelled as per your request, and a new project to install the same decking in the same place just 3 feet lower in height started( never received a quote). Which then took 2 partial days to finish.
The deck that you installed was not screwed down, the railing is unsafe and the steps are loose and coming off, you also were suppose to reconnect the power and place an access door below the current building which was skirted by you using new material when you were instructed to use existing material ( lots of material still on site). I have since instructed you not to continue.
Your crew began last year, it took one part of a day to tear the old decking and three walls down.
I was the one who contacted DGH engineering , not you. I paid them $1700 for plans that are useless because you did not communicate with them. The plans have the wrong measurements , the wrong materials and are just plain wrong. It is your job as a contractor to lead this project and you did not. That’s why I hired a contractor.
Your quote was submitted to me with ground hogs screws to be installed by you, Quote “ my guys will hand bomb them in†this is what was said to me and is what I agreed to. You then asked me for an additional $5500 dollars for the ground hog screws.
At this point the project was done in my mind, you provided me with a quote for $8000.00 and that’s what I expected to pay , not $8000.00 + $1700.00 + $5500.00 = $15,200.00
I will not pay $15,200.00 for something that was supposed to be $8000.00.
Your claim is that my finances fell through because of my hospital stay, which is an incorrect assumption by you, my hospital stay did not cost me anything and I received my full wage while in hospital.
You had also said that to help me out , you would complete my deck by yourself on weeknights and weekends, but each of the two days you came you had two different workers with you each day, once again this is not what I agreed to.
So for the three days of work you actually did, I will pay you $200.00 a day which totals $600 for the three days.( I provided all material)
I will be filing a claim in court for this money if you do not voluntarily refund my money.
I will only speak through email or recorded phone conversation from this point on.
You are no longer permitted on my property.
