I advise no one to use ams renovations.. they are a ripp off. me and my wife were really mad we used ams. If we could do it again we would use a different company. took forever, was done really bad, and we think the owner was drinkin on the job.
Hello Chris.
My name is Melissa Weber and I'm a licensed paralegal who specializes in contractor disputes. Most of my clients are homeowners who have been taken for thousands of dollars by a shady contractor who has left them with either an incomplete renovation, or a renovation that is far below industry standards.
Please feel free to contact me for a free consultation. Even if you do not have a written contract with your contractor, there are still legislative protections that are available to you.
I can be reached at melissa@justicematters.ca or on my cell phone at 647 882-3390.
Best,
M
Hi Melissa,
Do you also deal with shady customers who have ripped off Contractors for thousands of dollars as well?
This happens all too often. Contractors work very hard to meet deadlines and budgets and more importantly, their clients expectations, all to be met with NON PAYMENT. If you find yourself in this situation help is here. Please call me at 905-527-7121. I am a paralegal working with an agency that protects the rights of contractors. I am certain we can offer a resolution to your problem.
I do not currently require your services however we have had several costly experiences in the past. You are correct Stephanie, it happens far too often. Chances are a customer may get taken once and certainly that is unfortunate but they will learn from the experience and be smarter next time. We take a chance with every project we do. Bottom line, honest people are honest people and theives are thieves regardless of their profession. The media has portrayed contractors in an unflattering manner but I'm certain if they put any industry under the microscope and build TV channels around them, the results will be similar. I will keep your info and hope I never need to call you!!!

Guys, paralegals will not help you here. Let me explain something. An owner of a construction project is a trustee according to CLA. Even the corporate veil could be lifted. That is the only serious protection for a contractor. Do the legal stuff before, not after. And the consumer is protected by CPA. The weakness of that protection is that it mostly protects the consumer against non-refunded deposits if there has been no work done.
