There are so many topics and rumors of bad contractors, this makes it tough on project owners and good contractors. What happened to honest people and quality workmanship for honest prices.
I see while the economy was slow, some of the "bad" contractors were weeded out. Good on them.
Unfortunatly for some it is all $$$ and no pride. I have done a few "re-dos" of others work and half the time I make no money at it since I feel bad the client has already paid for the work.
There may have been a few that bit the dust Tom, but they're like mold- they just keep growing. And don't forget- a lot of these guys get professional training right off of the DIY shows cause guys like Mike Holmes show them how to do it. Watch & learn. And for every one of them that crashes & burns, you can bet there are 3 more waiting in the wings.
It has taken me over 30 years, but I have a great client base built up so I hardly advertise anymore- most of my clients do it for me. But I still run across these 'bad' contractors every now and again. Ken- don't feel bad about charging accordingly to make things right- you'd be surprised how many people expect to pay more to have it done right.
Cornwall has all of them. I really think they moved there businesses here.
I do understand that there are many bad contractors but you must look at you own site.
Most have no ratings and also false testements and if you cannot analize your site you must find someone that can.
Seeing contractors with 10 years of exspence and not have one referrence something must be wrong.
You some contractors that have the lowest reference and you still have them on your site.
We don't need to no if the contractor that is good or bad because we are paying for the leads. You took our money to say who is a bad or good contractor we needs leads to have work
You must do your own policing on your site.
