Hi guys I'm new to this blog and I'm wondering if you can give me some feed back. I was laid off as a site super in November and have decided to hang my own shingle. Has anybody tried to market to realestate agents? My thinking was a home owners gets an appraisal and the agent may make several suggestions in fixing up the property. The home owner may ask the agent if they know of a trusted contractor who can do the work. Any thoughts
Hi Stacey, and welcome. You could definately try to market yourself towards agents. Most of the agents who have been around for a while already have contractors they refer. Others may require incentives to pass your name on. No question the potential is there but it will take some time and marketing. You could try by offering a percentage to get their attention. I personally would begin with any agents that you may know personally and go from there.
Hi Stacey, I'll agree with what Shawn stated. I started out doing this (several years ago) and did get some positive feedback and several small jobs. If you can get enough Agents willing to work with you, you should be able to keep yourself somewhat busy. Again is all depends on timing and the current state of the market, which unfortunately isn't great.
Good Luck
Hi Stacey,
Brad here from Tradesmen. I do agree with your thoughts for sure. I hit the agents up for help from time to time since they lay somewhat in my field and can give my name as reference. It does work as long as you got a budget, finding people to vouch for you when they do not really know you is hard to find for free. Money talks. Stop into local real estate offices near you and simply state you interest and find out how much each will accept to pass your name when the opportunity rises. What have you got to loose? Be strong and give it your all, most of all believe in yourself and your cause.
I won`t say good luck because I believe if you give it your all, you will be great at it, YOU not luck. Take care.
Brad
