I am applying for a business name for roofing. Its just me and one other guy. I am currently employed by the canadian armed forces so will only be doing this on the side and very low scale for the next 5-10 years.
What I am wondering is where I can purchase insurance eg. workers comp and liability. for the 1 or 2 jobs that I do do a year. I am in manitoba Canada.
Any help would be greatly apprieciated.
Matt
What you should know is starting from next year WSIB becomes mandatory for every single contractor, including independent operators.
Cost of basic WSIB package is about 3000 dollars, give or take. In addition to this you might want a liability insurance- another couple thousand a year.
And yes, government is pushing weekend warriors out of operation.
Are 2 or 3 jobs a year going to pay for your overhead and start up expenses?
Nik is right ....WSIB is mandatory

A Home owner is going to want you to have liability insurance. What if a shingle goes though a $2000 front by window?
Don't forget Fall Protection training and certification
