The important part of the project is to use a steel lintel as a header to support the bricks at the top portion of the door's RO and assuming an interior stud wall, a wood header (typically two 2x8) with new trimmer and king studs that bear directly on structure. If the interior stud wall is strutural as well you will have to temporarily support the ceiling joist load while you construct the door opening.
