Hi there,
I just moved to Kingston from Toronto, I am a finish carpenter, and have always worked for clients. I would like to approach Home builders in the Kingston area as a sub trade to do their interior trim work.
What I need help with is pricing, on installing baseboards, trim on windows and doors, brick moulding, hanging doors, including hardware, install hardwood flooring. I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you all.
Alan,
I do general renovation work in Alberta and can give you a little insight. As to baseboards, I, generally, include them with other items such as floors or even a package which could be a mix of "things to do". Generally I look at about .50 per lineal foot as a guideline. Remember that if the baseboards are the only item on the list, you still have to make a dollar. As for doors, It can vary depending on the type of door. Hollow core, $150. and up, solid core, $400 & up (include the hardware. These figures were from 2011 so use your discretion.
I also do it to consider how much time each item will take and charge based on estimated time. Also allow for your tools, travel, and other expenses in your estimate.
Hope this helps.
Mark
Hey Alan,
I am a contractor in Toronto and if I am doing just a baseboard job I charge $2.50 per. lin. ft. including caulking. If the customer wants quarter round as well, then I charge $2.00 per. lin. ft. plus caulking.
Here in alberta it is same $2.50 to $3.65/ft. mdf/wood or $150 a door interior and from $600 exterior.
