Trying to establish a healthy lawn but have several evergreens lining the property (10 ft from lawn). Also have a dog. Any recomendations on sucessful soil mixtures or treatments?

Turf is hard to grow under spruce trees due to acidity of soil and lack of sun and the fact that trees utilize a lot of water. A dog doesn't help either. You really have to give alot of water so you can leach out some of the acidity. If it's a shadier area try a fescue type grass. Not as green or lush as a bluegrass, but require less water and nutrients. Hope that helps.
