I'm looking to put a concrete slab in my backyard for a shed. I was wondering how much it would cost for a slab 8.5 x 8.5? The shed I'm looking at is about 8 x 7. Should I opt for something cheaper like interlocking or something of that nature?

Hi there,

The average amount to pour a concrete pad at that size is in the range of 2100.00 which includes removal of the soil, 3/4 crushed gravel, compacted, formed and poured. If you just require concrete to be supplied and installed you would be around 1400.00 with concrete supplied only and formed.

Hi Stephen,

In Vancouver, and 8.5 X 8.5 concrete slab will typically fall under a minimum call service in our firm. I would probably charge around $1,900 including a 4 inch base of gravel, not including any excavating to level the existing ground.

I would recommend using laying a solid bed of base material such as gravel and installing a few deck blocks and building a raised floor off the ground. This is how we usually build sheds out in Vancouver when the homeowner doesn't want to spend the extra money on concrete.

Below is a link of a deck block:

I hope this helps and best of luck on your new shed.

Best Regards,

We have built lots of those all over the GTA. The average cost that we charge for something that size is around $1500.00 including a stone base.

Hello Stephen,

Concrete is the way to go. It's strong and won't allow any moisture in your shed. I would charge you 1200.00 - 1600.00 depending on ground elevation and prep.
