Have a 1947 house and need a new front door, back door and garage side door fitting. All will probably need the framework either repairing or replacing. Any idea on pricing? I'll probably only be doing one door/frame at a time.
Need cost for now.
Thanks
In my experience, each situation is very different. Depending on what the exterior finish is, how long there has been an issue, and other elements which play into cost. My rule of thumb is that if you can see problems as a result from water coming in, then the problems you can't see are much greater - a lot like an iceberg. That being said, the usual damage is the bottom corners. While the framing next to the opening is not terribly difficult to replace, the subfloor and floor joists are much more difficult (more time = more money). That all said, a few hours worth of work up to a days worth to replace the door - plus materials. That's the long answer. The short one is $1,000 per unit at best up to quite a lot depending on extent of damage. I personally wouldn't quote the time unless I did it as a worst case scenario. Hope this helps.
Good luck!
