Would running a 3/4" line directly from the hot water tank fill a bath tub quicker than a 1/2" line.

A standard tub shower diverted will all have 1/2 inlets / outlets. So if you where to extend a 3/4 pipe directly to the tub valve. You would need to reduce down to 1/2 to complete the connection.

The general relationship between pressure and volume is an inversely proportional one. This means that if everything else remains the same, when the volume increases the pressure decreases and vice versa

A plumbing code can be used to size waterlines properly. Velocity, fixture units, water service pipe size, water distribution line size, pressure coming into the building, other fixtures in the property. All these things need to be considered to answer your question. However, plastic pipe does have less friction loss and has a higher flow velocity of 3.0m/s.
