We are planning on adding to our house and are thinking of either a second story or adding out off the main floor. We are looking for one bedroom and a bathroom. Our current house is a two bedroom one bathroom bungalow with another bedroom and bathroom in the finished basement. Also have an attached two car garage. Obviously without seeing the house it is hard to give an estimate but generally what would this type of addition go for?

A project of this sort has alot of variables involved with it. Curent structure, design, materails and feasibility. As far as cost for something of this sort it would really have to be priced as per plan, it is very difficult to price per sqft. You obviously need to have an idea of what your investment will be though. On average I have seen these types of projects run anywhere from $50.00 per sqft to $80.00 per sqft. It all depends on what is involved. My best advice is if you are serious about doing a project like this is to have it designed properly and estimated as per completed specs and drawings.
