I have some aluminum siding around a window and on top of my front door. Color is faded and, over door, paint is chipping.
The house is around 50 years old so the siding has the larger gaps. Have had leakage over front door where paint has chipped and siding seems rusted.
Is it worth repairing or removing?
And if removing, what do I replace it with?
Hi Shoshana, your description makes it sound like you are talking about the flashing that goes above and around windows and doors. Aluminum can fade but will not rust. If it is the flashing, there should be a way to replace it.
The only way to know for sure is to have a contractor come in and have a look.
You should put your requirements in the "post your projects" section so you can get some local contractors to respond and have a look.
Good Luck with it!

Thanks, Jim, for the comments. I thought flashing was just around the roof/gutters, etc, but maybe I am wrong. I will post on the project section to see what comes up.
